ParticipantI usually carry my camera gear around in a Lowepro camera backpack. It’s not quite stealth but at least it doesn’t scream Canon to any potential thieves. You would have to know camera bag brands at least to know it’s not just a back pack. On the down side it is not the easiest to get to the camera if you are in a hurry to get a shot and the camera is not already out.

ParticipantWould your best/close friends count as family? Otherwise you’re getting 3 pictures of orionid and/or the Fauxcat because I don’t have any contest worthy pictures of any other family members, nor do I live within 500 miles of any of them.
I pretty much have the same question/ problem.

ParticipantI don’t get many opportunities to get nsfw type pictures around this little town unless I find a gory dead critter and take pictures of it like the dead sperm whale that washed up on the beach last year.
having been to tonapah both whale and beach took me aback. then i remembered you moved there a while back and it all made more sense.
I wrote that while still living on the coast heh. Now I don’t see critters much bigger than a rabbit for the most part. I have been told there are wild horses and free range cows but have not seen either of those yet alive or dead and gory. I have seen some alive and rather fast pronghorn antelope. So fast I didn’t get a single picture of them.
But on the topic of Flickr vs photobucket. I have never used photobucket but Flickr has been very good so far other than the few minor changes that mostly just took some getting used too.

Participantlokisbong please don’t be offended by this question but are you sure it isn’t dust on the sensor?
not that i’m in sleeping‘s knowledge group but dust on the external lens elements is one thing. dust inside is pretty rare.
Not offended. I can see it when I look through the lens with it not on the camera so I am pretty sure it’s not on the sensor. I have looked at the sensor and don’t see anything on it and it doesn’t affect my other lenses at all. I know it’s a rare thing but this lens was on the camera when a strong gust of wind caught a lawn chair and blew it into my tripod knocking the whole shebang lens first into the sand and I am pretty sure that’s when the dirt started showing up in my pictures.edited to add The autofocus has been twitchy ever since too.

ParticipantI have one bit that shows up in a lot of my pictures of bright day time stuff. Especially when I try to take landscape pictures at the wide end of the zoom. I have been wishing I had a job and there was a camera shop less than 170 miles away. I don’t know if I would even want to think about taking it apart enough to get to the chunk of dust. It’s not nearly as bad as the lens in the article you linked though. I am not sure I would have even tried to use that after it got treated like that. lol. the spot in my lens only shows in certain situations so I am not too bugged by it but it would be better if I could get rid of it.

ParticipantThe efs 18-55IS is the kit lens that came with my camera. I like it a lot but it now seems to have some dust on the inside of the lens. I bought a 50mm 1.8 at the local pawn shop a while back for way less than the pawnshop probably wanted to sell it for(their fault for not having price marked on it) and love it even if people claim its not a great lens. It seems the lens I use the most for day time pics is the 55-250 though. All three are the cheaper version canon lenses.

Participantlet do this.
want to see my moon shot? go here
Better than mine by a fair bit. I had to focus through a mild dust storm though. Stupid wind is still howling at midnight

ParticipantWhoa it seems weird posting my entries so early. I think I said something some anonymous person liked so much they gave me six months TF!

ParticipantYeah the ravens grab my attention more when I think about it. Not to say the frost picture isn’t way cool looking.

ParticipantI shot a friends wedding using the 18-55 kit lens but I did it for free and gave them a photo album of the best shots. I did not use any flash because all I had was the popup flash and had already learned it is not real good for any situation I have wanted flash for. I did most of the pictures from the front though unlike this dude.

ParticipantI am also glad you are ok along with your friends and family.
Now if we would just hear from Corsec soon.lokisbong
ParticipantWhat I want to know is are we allowed to set up a shot? You know… like moving sticks around to more easily recognize the letter. I have not found to many natural things that look like letters here in the desert. I understand things like window frame pieces making a “t” or stuff like that but does natural things have to be completely natural or can I do some arranging?
