Sometimes when you click on “Unknown Source” it can give you more information.

I don’t think I have ever seen it be clickable on my page. The other sections yes but not the unknown source section.

The other weird thing I saw recently was somebody favorited one of my pictures but it had not one single view yet.

According to the FAQ section of flickr it would be
” * Someone is clicking on a link in their email program or an instant message, where there is no referring “page”
    * Sometimes someone directly enters the address into their browser, or uses a bookmark
    * Sometimes pages are cached by other services. Pages that are cached don’t have to load a fresh copy, so those views sometimes don’t register.”

One explanation given when I sent a question to the help forum on flickr is that it’s a RSS reader. I get around 10 unknown views every day.Sometimes on pictures that have never had a know view and several times on pictures that I just uploaded. Never had my flickr assplode yet.

Bummer you gotta give her up. nice looking car. I am not a big fan of that baby blue but I could totally live with it if the car is cool enough.

Got myself an ML-L3 yesterday so I could finally do bulb shots. I was hoping to get some streaking if I telescoped in a bit, since we can’t stack for the upcoming contest. I set up my tripod and left the exposure open for 30 minutes with f/13. What I got was the horrible mess below:

Any thoughts? I’m thinking that my aperture was too large, but even then, there’s not a discernible star in the sky. Too much light pollution? I’m thinking of making another attempt near the beach where there’s not so much city interference. I don’t even know if people can get streaking goodness without stacking images – just going out on a limb here, hoping I can.

I get pretty good str trail pictures with no stacking as long as there is no moisture in the air. I think you have a bit of humidity going on with way to much light pollution.

this is 6 and a half minutes no stacking

I decided to experiment and it only makes the cut off worse after about 2.2 plus has the disadvantage of making the edges even more fuzzy looking like I did an even worse job cutting out the star.

Ok I made one with a few mm smaller hole and it seems to have less cut offs. Still a bit on the very outer edges but not bad. I did some searching on the webs for diy things like this and it seems to be a problem in more than half the pictures I looked at. I think the biggest challenge now is getting nice smooth edges on my cutouts. Every little flaw in the cutout shows up clearly in the picture.

Thanks ravnostic. I kinda thought it might be smaller would do better. I would rather remake the filter than crop. seems to me like I would have to lose almost half the image to get rid of all the partial stars and that’s just not acceptable to me. lol I will try remaking with a bit smaller cutout and see how it goes.

Looks like I should take a walk in the morning and take advantage of the snow that has accumulated over the last 24 hours.

Man I wish I had the money to go. So broke I can’t remember ever being this far in the hole. When I get a job I will feel like I owe my friends the first three paychecks. Knowing him he will say no way but I will still feel that way.

Yes. Several of us did shots like that last time, though usually at full opacity, not partial (but partial opacity shouldn’t be a problem).

You mean there is a way to do it at full opacity? It is one of those layer mask thingies?

Photoshopping is not my strong point.

You can stack your layers and selectively erase the top layer to let the bottom layer show through. It is the Photoshop method of creating a double exposure effect. Here is an example:

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/ennuipoet/4141601580/
I took four separate exposures, stacked and layer masked the layers to erase to create a multiple exposure effect of me slowly killing myself with coffee and cigarettes.

I am also posting one like this this time around. I never knew what a pain in the wrist it can be to combine four exposures this way. But I must say I love the final results. I have actually done two versions in different locations and am torn whether to post both or just one.

Can we push Volcanos, Mountains, and Waterfalls off to June? No ulterior motive here….. just sayin…..

So what are you going to Hawaii for you honeymoon trip? Not complaining. I could use some time to get better Pictures than I have so far.

That’s what I get for not checking Facebook. lol. Stupid question.
