ParticipantYet another vote for Gimp here. Runs great on my Xp machine. I seem to remember it was rather painless to get running.

ParticipantI plan on trying both ends of the scale I think.

ParticipantQuoted from the contest thread:
At first, I saw the theme, and I’m thinking “How elitist! Not everybody has a filter …”, and then my outrage quickly turned to embarrasment when I saw how creative some posters were.
Figured I’d respond here, it’d have a better chance to actually get read. When Pangolyn suggested the theme, it was actually the creative, non-traditional stuff that she had in mind. She used an Olympus point-and-shoot and managed to get quite creative with it at times. She would use pantyhose as a soften/diffuse filter, saran wrap and petroleum jelly, beer bottles, whatever she could find to try something different, and wanted to get everyone else to try and think outside the box, too.
I was under the impression that was the whole idea and that is why I only posted one shot. Which flopped hard. Oh well.

ParticipantYou are definitely on a roll U-man. They have all deserved to be winning shots as far as I could tell.
I was happy last week when I finally got a tenth place for the first time.lokisbong

Participantlokisbong: It’s subtle, but would work
Thank you. I know it’s subtle but that was why I liked it. On a tangent is that flare bad for the sensor ?
Edited for punctuation.

ParticipantWould this fit the theme?

The ray that goes from bottom left to top right is rainbowish?lokisbong
ParticipantHmm,maybe this is gonna be a week of 100 pictures of CDs?
I’d rather have a hundred pictures of CDs than a hundred pictures of those dang spiders from last week…I’m still feeling kinda creeped out.
It would seem we did what we set out to on that theme. heh heh
sorry though. Try being afraid of them and having to get less than 3 inches away to get a good shot!I also have a cd shot this week. but only one.
edited to add: baked is best in almost any situation. imho

ParticipantI would suggest there’s an argument to be made that “rainbows,” would include rainbow colored items as long as it’s all the colors and not just red or blue or whatever alone.
Well that open it up just a bit. Not that I have any rainbow colored stuff here but that seems to be a common kite coloring theme.
