Participanti’ll put them all in a gallery on my pbase site and link it here when it’s all done – dgough, where are you in the country? the camera is in the midwest right now but it still has to go to the east coast and then all the way back to WY (and possibly alaska) so pretty much anywhere is on its way. 🙂

Participantdamn, getty? you rollin’ wit da big dogs, yo.
whoa. sorry. 😛
i haven’t looked through all of them, like i said, but you’ve really got some nice stuff up there; i really really like the frog shot you’ve got as the representative for the amphibian set. very bright colors, great contrast against the background – just a good all around shot.

Participanthiya jack! long time no see – sorry i don’t play in the t or d any more. 🙁
i’ve just looked at the first page and so far my only comment is that the shots of just the heads of snakes seem to work a lot better. if you’re shooting head + body it all seems to blend into one big ball of snake without much contrast between the head and body etc (specifically the blacktail tongue shots).
good stuff – who are you submitting to if you don’t mind me asking?

ParticipantDo you have any dollar stores out there? Like Dollar Tree, Everything’s A Dollar, etc? Zeke and I just totally cleaned out a Dollar Tree of their dollar Barbies
/23 Barbies….
that is a fantastic idea – i’m going to call mr. bort right now and have him stop by the dollar store!

Participantthanks again curious – it’s much appreciated. i feel like kind of a chump since i’ve actually been home in time to post them these last couple contests but you just never can tell when that wild wyoming weather is going to go to town.

ParticipantMy shots are ready but we have guests in the office all day and then I’m supposed to be taking them out to dinner. Hopefully I can get away for about 10 minutes around 5. Otherwise I might not be posting until 11 or so…
i might be right there with you – i haven’t even uploaded the stuff i shot for this week yet. by the time i get home, do whatever levels etc. i need to do and get everything uploaded it’s going to be 8 pm or some such (MST).

ParticipantI use my Canon EF 17-35 2.8L about 95% of the time. i also have the 70-200 Tamron 4-5.6 and whatever the canon lens that came with the 20D is (18-55?). i use the kit lens on occasion only because it has a closer focusing ability than the 17-35; but i adore the 17-35. love it. use it all the time. i only bust out the 70-200 if i’m looking to compress the elements in the image.
then again, i don’t do any wildlife photography, so this probably isn’t very helpful.

Participantha, i’ll bet. that’s why i’m monkeybort pretty much everywhere on the web – can’t remember more than one name.
well, that one and my RL name, that is.
🙂
welcome aboard!

Participantyou have to type in the code at the bottom of the page – there is a box for comments at the bottom of the contest thread.
it doesn’t help at all that i originally gave you a link for the voting results page rather than the contest page. sorry about that. 😳

Participantwvsky – you’ll have to sign up at http://www.fark.com, and then go to this thread.
the contests are every week and you can find the upcoming themes on the front page of this site (click on ‘welcome’ on the left side of this page – contests are in a bar on the right side of the page).
hope that helps!

Participanthappy bdays galley and morningbreath! glad your back is feeling better, GW. i will look for the lights tonight – i didn’t see your post until just this morning.
happy thursday all!
Thanks.:) I hope you have clear skies, tonight is supposed to be better.
i’ll keep an eye out – they’re pretty rare here, so it’s really a treat to see them.

Participanti think what most of those disposable cameras do is have the aperture really tiny, like f32 or so, and the focus set on infinity. with the ISO800 and the (probable) shutter speed around 1/100 (totally guessing), it makes them pretty much idiot proof as far as getting a shot that is not blurry. we had a bunch of them at our wedding and they mostly turned out fine. they really are supposed to be ‘point and shoot’ – i think as long as you’re at least 4-5 feet from your subject and it’s not horribly bright or really dark, you should be fine.
