I’m presuming street photography stuff is okay, but one should shy away from landscapes and the lot?

/I think I have FarkConaire’s Disease and am not thinking too good today

I’ve got the day off, but I’ve also got over 600 pictures to go through from the weekend. And then resize and album-ize. I hear ya.

I know..it’s getting to be a serious shortcoming. Wonder if Zeke can find a plug-in somewhere…but then I think we’re running old forum software as it is.

    *like*

And I know I missed a few good photos this week, but I’m using my mi-fi connection for the laptops because I’m too cheap to spend $28 for 24 hours of internet access =P

In other news, I’m sooooooo set for that ‘mountains’ contest though. Even though I haven’t done my ‘set up’ shot yet…

We’d absolutely love to, but we’re not going to make it out to AZ before then :/

We almost flew into Tulsa, I think, but got a better deal flying straight in, so we’ll not have to worry about rental cars and the like. Yeah, we’ll be pretty booked both Friday and Saturday though :/

When it was just me, it wasn’t an issue – the airlines let me treat my camera bag along the same lines as, say, a lady’s handbag, and my carry-on has a compartment for the laptop. There’s three of us this time around, though, so we’ll need at least one more place to put laptops, plus I’m pretty sure the puddle-jumper into Lawton will make us gate-check the carry-on (which is still better than checking it, but…)

May have to get one of those before we (ugh) have to fly in May. I don’t like letting any of my gear out of my sight when I travel…
    .

Us neither. All our carry-ons were our camera gear and 2 books.

    Where are you going?

    Lawton, OK. Yippee

/Don’t have a choice – family reunion stuff. Otherwise I don’t think I’d be getting on a plane. That’s a bit too far to drive, considering the amount of time we’ll have available.

i too have a hippy strap. bought aftermarket 35 years ago. doesn’t get used much since i generally take the whole bag when i go photoing.

olavf i have a home made draw string bad with sling made from parachute nylon for the tripod and monopod. it hangs quiver like across my back and doesn’t really get in the way and is pretty light.

Cool. I’ll have to consider that for Kat, since she prefers the shoulder bag. I like the backpack partially because it doesn’t throw my weight off-center.

Couple of tricks: I made mine out of a piece of aluminum can and used a pin to pierce the hole. You want to make the metal as thin as possible (I sanded the aluminum as much as I dared – after I pierced the hole so that I removed the dimple made from the piercing) and the aperture to be as regular as possible (thus removing the dimple). What I *didn’t* do, was paint the backside black, or cover as much areas as possible with the black tape I used for mounting, and I think this interfered with my shots due to reflections within the ‘lens’.

There are also places that sell laser-cut apertures, and some fixed in caps, but my reading has suggested that there’s not much real gain – unless you want to start playing with slits rather than pinholes.

You should try it – it’s fun! I converted a body cap to make mine, and used a piece of beer can and copious amounts of electrical tape to make the pinhole. I’ll get some links up this evening.

Your comment and loki‘s just made me realize that you’re talking about using a digital back. Weird to say, but that never occurred to me.

I’d always just associated pin-hole with film and with the turnaround time to get it developed between tweeks to the apparatus it sounded like a time-consuming process.

But with a digital back, that’d be something I might be able to squeeze in some time to try. I wonder if my local shop carries a cheap body cap…

    Pretty much.

Last time, I didn’t put enough tape on the inside (covering the aluminum) though. Easy fix though.

lokisbong, what kind of camera do you have?

Not something I’d likely do myself, but I’d surely like to see everyone’s results.
