ParticipantI could see the argument in favor if them Curious, particularly if the emphasis of the shot were on the tiles rather than the overall picture.

ParticipantAs Pope said, we’re going to get into town Friday evening at some time, and would like to try and hit at least the dam Saturday…probably fairly early so that we can get back to LV in time to make the proposed ‘workshops’ or whatever it is that’s being set up for Saturday evening. I think our car will be full (assuming lady_nocturne and nesler want to go, but Kari’s a damn fine photographer in her own right, and I think it’d be awesome if the farktographers in attendance could do some sort of meetup.
caradoc, we’re making the drive too. It *would* be a ten-ish hour drive, but once we started thinking about it, we’re going to do that over two days. Tentative stops: Bodie, Ca (depending on weather. the roads….suck), Mono Lake, probably Manzanar on Thursday. Friday we’re planning on Death Valley for the bulk of the day, and running over to Vegas in time to SSS and hit the evening’s festivities.

ParticipantYou know Kestrana – your shots are pretty awesome and all, but you could stand to learn a few tricks. Not only from that lady from Zimbabwe , but this fine collection of Russian photographers as well.

ParticipantMore often than not, my walk-around is my 50/1.4. It’s just by far my favorite lens, and I like the challenge of being close enough to my subjects to get the full picture.

ParticipantTwo out of three sick kids and a two-hour minimum round trip precluded doing anything this weekend. Ah well, I’ve got a few in my archives and one I took a month ago for this one.

ParticipantI recommend highly either tagging your photos, or otherwise filing them in a way so that they’re searchable. Personally, I self-host so it’s pretty trivial. I keep frame numbers in every picture title, so a on my Farktography folder will quickly tell me if I’ve even considered a shot for a contest, and which contest, so I can determine whether it was one I used, or just a bee.
It comes in handy when you’ve been doing this for a couple of years, and find yourself archive-diving =P

ParticipantCongrats, CauseISaidSo!

ParticipantMy understand is that that’s the case as well. Likewise, posting a pic, pulling it before the contest opens, and using it later.

ParticipantUnless I’m expressly invited to take pics, I never use the flash in those situations. I think it’s too distracting for both the performers, and the audience.

ParticipantI did. Mathlab was a graphing program I used in high school. My bad.
No worries. I’m somewhat familiar w/ Mathlab, which is why I was confused 😉
