ParticipantI believe what you’re seeing is a reflection off the sensor, then back from the rear element of the lens. This is something that tends to happen more with older lenses that predate DSLRs – sensors are more reflective than film, and they weren’t designed to deal with that.
Okay, that makes sense I was shooting with my Nikkor 28-70, and it’s an older lens.
Thanks Sleeping!

ParticipantWell, I entered. I’ll see what the voters think. As usual I was a tad outside the box on this one.

ParticipantI love photographing buildings, churches and old buildings in particular. I guess it comes from having a degree in Architecture and spending a good deal of my working life fixing them.

ParticipantExcellent work Yugoboy!

ParticipantFrankly, pics wouldn’t be able to cover the claustrophobic feeling of it.
You don’t know the half of it.
/And strangely, I miss it.
That’s right you have first hand experience.
I felt claustrophobic in it and it was on dry land with clearly marked emergency exits.

ParticipantIt’s too bad they don’t allow pictures inside the U-boat, they would have been spectacular.
I’m assuming the museum sells photos of the interior…why wouldnt they let people take photos inside a captured German submarine from WW2?
I wonder about that myself. At Pearl Harbor there’s a submarine you can go in, and nobody stopped me from taking a whole bunch of photos. Same is true for the sub moored at Buffalo’s harbor. Both are WWII vintage. I can understand if there’s a tour of a modern nuclear sub, but…
because the U-505 exhibit charges extra to go inside.
My guess is that they think people may not pay to go in if you’ve seen the pics. Frankly, pics wouldn’t be able to cover the claustrophobic feeling of it. (I paid, but I’m a tourist and we got into the museum for free anyways…)
CISS I almost used the exact shot you used for the U-Boat, except mine has different lighting.

ParticipantPosting from the road this week. Pope Larry, I was wondering if I’d see any other U-505; I thought maybe Kes, Mopsy, or U-Man, but didn’t expect to see it from you. Sorry about that, but I had to make my selection a few days ago before I left.
The U-505 shot was an archive dive, sort of. I keep a book with all the upcoming contests in it and keep it in mind when out shooting.

ParticipantThanks Rav!

ParticipantCan I vote more than once for returning to the old system?
Pope_Larry_II
ParticipantRav, your shot is awesome.
I think the swirls were added to the concrete to provide grip, most likely by a trowel or float. Either way, it’s not something I’ve ever seen before in a parking garage.
Pope_Larry_II
ParticipantYes, those are the two I need an OBO posting.
Pope_Larry_II
ParticipantCauseISaidSo, cool, I’ll send you the free month….
[edit] Done, you should be able to use it for tonight’s contest.
Pope_Larry_II
ParticipantAll right, I’m going to need a big favour, I’m going to be nowhere near any reliable intenet access for this contest and the one after this. Can I get someone to post OBO? If you are a liter I will gift you a month of TF so we can both post early. (I am not responsible if you get hooked on TF) PM me if you can help a fellow farktographer out.
