I am now the proud owner of this $4.99 gem.

ParticipantFarktographer, that’s awesome. I’m a huge fan of graffiti (but not tagging). Toronto has some really good stuff too.

ParticipantAlright, in the contest description it says ‘cheap cameras’, what I’d like to know is: does this count?

I spent a day wandering in and out of the electronics stores in Chinatown and got nothing. I really hope this fits the bill.

ParticipantRav, I’m also excited about this theme too, like I said up thread, I’ve had photos set aside for months (literally!) I just hope the voters like the theme and show up to vote.

Participantennuipoet, most of the lenses I looked at started at $1,000…so I think I did well.

ParticipantAlrighty, the final update: I bought the whole works, lens, body and flash (carrying bag + misc stuff) for $1,000. The body and flash were throw-ins with the lens really. Now to find out if the camera works.

ParticipantI went last year and took my entire kit (okay 3 lenses…). We managed to see the grand canyon and the valley of fire state park (shoots still appear in my Farktography entries). I also took in some of the strip and old Vegas.
I took my camera to the party where I was not drinking and got a few shots. The other night, the camera stayed in the hotel room, as I have a tendency to lose things when I go out drinking.

ParticipantAnyone have some potential criticism they could share with me? Because otherwise I have a confused.
I have only one piece of advice: the more you like something, the less likely it is to receive votes. Thus is the nature of Fark.
This does appear to be a general truism of Fark. Some of my best placing photos were not my favorites, while my favorites tanked.
I’ve learned to accept it an photograph and submit what I like, if it works out, great, if not, also great.

ParticipantGah, here I thought I was going to have a hard time coming up with 3 good shots, now I’m having a hard time picking my final 3 out of the 19 I uploaded. I’ve got my first two, and the last will probably come from one of these:

I like the first one the best of those three. Actually the whole album is good.

ParticipantOrionid – regarding your 3rd B, you never mentioned your vacation to Minas Tirith.
We were there helping defend against the siege from Mordor.
Pope Larry The Tamron? I want one, but I really want the Tokina 12-24, especially after Soosh‘s glowing reviews (“yeah, you know, I left it in the Alaskan wilderness for two weeks during the winter and a blizzard rolled in. Went back and found it. Threw it in a bag of desiccant for a couple days and it still works good as new.”).
Yes, it’s the Tamron one. I use it mainly for architecture and landscape photos. I’m very happy with it.

ParticipantOrionid it’s my 10-24mm ultra wide angle lens. It’s my favorite lens.
I got lucky, it was the only break in the clouds, the rest of the day was grey and overcast.

ParticipantLots of fantastic photos from all over the world. I’ve got the camera, now I need to get about that “travel” bit of the equation.
2 of mine we taken within 10 miles of my house, one is less than 1 mile.
For me, Texas is exotic….

ParticipantFarktographer, Awesome photos, I have a few pics of those churches from my last trip to Amsterdam, with my trusty Pentax P&S film camera.
