ParticipantHow about make them legal for both digital and film? That way, Farktography gets a little polish.
yeah, yeah, I hear the concerns about recreating the 35mm-threaded-in-Holga effect digitally, but… we could try it until we get a bunch of drop-shadow, torn-edge entries and then re-address.

ParticipantSchnee, Super image. You have vote from me. Of course many other have vote from me, but your image make a special impact on me. Well done !!. SUPER !! I am really hope that you do well on this contest ! It really is great image !
Thanks man. When I proposed this theme, I had an image in mind, but it wasn’t the Celtic cross.
I took the cross from the middle of my street, right outside my house. Full moon the night before Christmas. If I had to do it over again, I’d try to do a better job of exposing for the moon, to try to get some detail in there.

ParticipantThis one is turning out to be harder than I thought it would be. While there are lots of big metal things around, I can’t find one that screams heavy.
I’ll keep searching and thinking.
Yeah, the heavy part is tough to illustrate.

ParticipantThanks for the wording on the headline.

ParticipantThe best photo I’ve ever taken was with a disposable waterproof Fuji that I had purchased 30 minutes prior. I was so nervous about getting sand and water in my SLR (loaded with Provia slide film, with an L lens attached) that I left it in the car.

Its even got the nudity thing that has fixated ‘mofo.
You can use the Olympus to train your eye – I found that when I was shooting film, I took relatively fewer images, but I planned and visualized thousands. Now that I have a DSLR, I’ve found that earlier attention to framing and composition really pays off. Try to adopt a similar attitude. And try to find naked collegians.

Participant…have had a couple of projects going that have eaten into Farktography time.
Priorities & all that.
Priorities that are apparently all messed up…Congrats on the new job.

Participantof all the images shown, I would not DQ any of them.

Participantcame out pretty cool. bonus points for having no(*) external light sources that reflected in the sphere.
(*) except maybe in the upper left.

ParticipantSo, I’m a little confused. I have a really nice picture of a powerline tower… but I guess that doesn’t count. If you exclude those three things…. can you give me an example of another utility pole that would count?
We discussed some of this in the original thread, so you can hop over there and take a look.

ParticipantEnter farktography contests and constantly pester people for advice.
He knows all about that pestering part.
While online resources (websites, forums, Farktography contests) are pretty useful, don’t discount actually hooking up with creative types in the off-line world.

ParticipantInteresting the way the voting fell out. 5 images in the top ten went for the more realistic approach and the other five went for the more dramatic approach. I really struggled which way I should go. While neither of my images reflect the scene the way Mother Nature intended, I did try to keep the tonal hierarchy in the end-result mostly true to the original. Fun project.
