ParticipantI totally heart staplermofo’s sense of humor.
/there wasn’t anything else to do to the word heart.
//too tired to make it linked to, like, a heart.U-Man
ParticipantOh God yes. I was hoping someone would do the National Geographic Afghani girl. That one was very well done, pangolyn. And it’s a little frightening just how much U-Man‘s Shining shot looks like the real thing 😆
I’ve got 60 or 70 others in which I look happy or constipated. Maybe both in a couple.
Fun theme. I’m a bit surprised that there wasn’t a bigger turn-out.
Pangolyn, I liked both the M.C. Escher and the Nat Geo girl. Did you make all of those lizard-guys?

ParticipantI’m so happy this one ‘made it’. This is the goofy shit that makes farktography better than photography.

Participantsoosh and U-Man, I think it’s interesting (and proves the point) how different all three of our flaming monk shots were.
I agree.
Yeah, I was hoping to see some stapler-themed entries 🙁
After our earlier discussion, I actually had the thought of a burning stapler-monk.

Participantsoosh – I’ve been flipping back and forth between the color and b&w. I think you made the right choice.
/speaking of acetone. In college, I once tried to clean a phone with acetone. And this was after I had taken Organic Chem. To say that the buttons were “sticky” is putting it way mildly. They kinda melted together. Oops.

ParticipantGaaaa! I’m stuck between two choices for my last pic.
Have some mercy, man! I don’t know how you will top your first two. Amazing stuff yet again.
Thanks, BB. 🙂
The Marilyn pic is one of my favorites for the past few months. I had another where her face was beautifully happy but I chose the one in the thread because her legs were closer to “original”.
Here’s the other – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/fark/Marilyn_2483.jpg
For the Shining pic I knocked together a hand-held beat up door. It was sort of hard to get a crazy look without having a stupid look. Then again, I don’t feel badly that I can’t act as well as Jack. 🙂

Well, I did get a chance to do the self-immolation monk. I’m pretty happy with the result. Not perfect, but OK. I had a hard time choosing between the monk and the migrant mother. A big part of my decision is that my wife (without make-up and looking worried) and kids put up with me and acted as models. 🙂

I am thoroughly enjoying this thread tonight.

ParticipantThanks for the go-ahead. I haven’t done it yet so we’ll see if I can sneak it in between Daddy duties. Probably not but I want to try it.
/fire…heh, heh…fire.

ParticipantI just stopped at Wal*Mart on the way home and got a $3 bald doll to try the immolation pic. I don’t know if I’ll even get it done but would it be bad-form to even try? I mean, soosh presented it and Elsinore has done one already. Just what is Farktography etiquette for this?
/tick, tick, tick…should I try it?

ParticipantI was thinking more along the lines of printing out one of warhol’s soup cans, pasting that onto an actual can, and then photographing that being obviously three-dimensional.
Actually. I like that idea too. And it doesn’t feel slimy. I mean, it is not like you’d be trying to ‘get away with something’.

ParticipantI’m not teasing you at all. And I’ve got a scale model of the Kennedy death car all ready to go. I’ve just got to figure out how much blasted circus peanut head I can feature without getting my image pulled. I’m figuring hamburger meat = too far, but maybe a bit of melted spice drop would be ok. or perhaps cotton wool with some fingernail polish on it.
I am SO glad that Mrs. Schnee and her good taste no control over soosh.
/hamburger meat…heh…*shakes head while chuckling*

ParticipantI don’t know that that’s twisting the rule too hard. I mean hell, I’m using circus peanuts to recreate a presidential assassination.
Yeah but something about “illegally” photoshopping a photo and then taking a pic of that seems slimy to me. To take it to an extreme, I could google a famous photo, print it, photograph the print and then call it mine. Doesn’t work.
What you have planned is, in my opinion, completely different. I’m looking forward to this theme. I hope yours are as good as the sword-swallower or fire-eater guy from “See you at the fair.” 🙂

Participantone thing you could do, U-Man, or others, is to make the soup can label in photoshop, print it out, paste it on a can, then take a picture of that.
Ahhh. You sneaky. That’s twisting the rule pretty hard. 🙂
NBD – Either one works for me. Good stuff.

ParticipantHey orionid, you may want to get a new screen grab soon.
…and I’m coming to get you…
…dun-dun-dun-dun-dun-dun (Jaws spooky music) dun-dun-dun…
😈

Participant*shakes fist @ U-Man!!!!*
dammit!! Now I need new ideas!
Not so, my friend. Unless you planned on making your pics look like paintings you should be fine. Perhaps I should have waited until later to present my soup can as a B-side. Sorry if I messed up. If you have something similar you want to use (and it fits in the rules) go for it. I’m doing three photos with people in them.
