Those kits are awesome looking. I have a noob question though – what size would you buy for a 55mm lens? Smaller, bigger, or same size? And…do they fit all types of lenses?

I’m interested in the answer to this question as well. My HP All-in-one just isn’t cutting it – the glass has some haze from underneath and this is a replacement from the original we had that did the same thing. 😕

So hey! Guess what everybody! I got me a job! Yes indeed, I’m now the first assistant to a fella named Mark Leonhard who’s one of the owners of Acme Photo Works in Highland Park, MI (www.acmephoto.com). I’m in like Flynn I tells ya. I got a key, and a security code and a little clicker thing to open the security gate and a company credit card and everything. On top of that I’ve got full and unfettered access to all the studio space and equipment I can handle. Needless to say the wife and I are stoked. This is shaping up to be a good year.

So the camera came laaaate Friday and then I was busy all weekend. Got a chance to play around a bit last night and I’m digging it. Bit of a difference from my Nikon but thinking I just need practce. Thanks again ya’ll for all the input. I love my new camera 😀

Veruca, congrats! If my father didn’t shoot Canon (we do nature stuff and rent lenses), I would have bought the Minolta. One cool thing about the Minolta is there are some great used lenses CHEAP. Go to Keh.com and take a look. I still think about getting a 5D anyway just to shoot low light with primes and built-in stabilization.

GE makes some incandescant full spectrum bulbs. I think they’re called “Reveal” or something like that. I’ve gotten good results w/o flash when the room is brightly lit by those lights.

This month I have two fun photographic projects. An event poster for a private client where I get to do some creative ad work, and a studio shoot that will end up as part of a recruiting DVD at work. So 2006 is starting off well.

Once the event poster is done I’m going to post something on “the making of” from sketches to final product. Should be neat.

I’ve been a lurker for a few months. I’ve really getting into digital photography as of late (I FINALLY got a tripod for Christmas so I’m taking more pics now). I’m starting to flex my creative muscle, so I’m not that good yet. But I would love to get in on the Farkamera project! 🙂
