    ..stuff..

Also, I don’t know about anybody else, but I can shoot for days, like, more than 24 hours of actual shooting on just one piddly little battery, so unless it’s for ergonomics, a battery grip seems like overkill unless you’re hiking alone in the wilderness, far from civilization and civilization’s convenient supply of electricity, and take one majestic shot per day for weeks to fill those cards as slowly as possible. That might be because I don’t have any large autofocus lenses though. Anyone know?

    ..more stuff…

When travelling to Europe I generally take three or four pre-charged batteries with me and two 8gb memory cards (usually a three night stay). I’m a freak about my memory cards, and will leave my race photos locked in my case in the hotel whilst I take a fresh one for touristy stuff. I figure that way, if someone does mug me for my camera, I haven’t lost everything. (Oh, and the 8gb was on offer for the same as the 4, that’s why I went so meaty.)

The batteries I can go through like a hot knife through butter, but I’m twitchy (I’ll frame and reframe a few times quite often on still life), I also have it on AI servo for the cars and will follow pretty much everyone until I find a shot I want to take, so the camera is constantly working. Even saying that though, I took 400 shots at the Rally and used 2.5 batteries(over two days) , including some flash usage in the service park.

When I did a wedding in the summer, I only used the one battery.

For once, three is just not enough. 🙁

I’ve never done HDR before, but after a quick skim through that last tutorial, I see many, many uses for it, and cant wait to give it a shot.

This is what makes me love Farktography. I stop being such a scaredy cat and try out new things. Even if I do end up with coffee beans on pink plates. 😳

It’s OK. I figured as much.

I should not go out drinking and then take pictures and try to colour fix them on the laptop in future. But it was the Directors birthday, I didn’t have much choice. 😉

(And it still looked white on the laptop this morning, sober.)

I need shooting. I’m having an awful day, and I just noticed that my entry (which I had to do on my laptop, which really doesn’t have the tools for it) had a pink background. I tried to fix it, and I’ve now borked the link.

Am I screwed for being a dizzy woman or is there anyway I can get that link fixed?

(new link, if it is possible to do is http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2239/2022408269_0187d4cc8d_b.jpg )

    Xenpix – Bigger islands are over-rated 😛

I quite like that bigger island you live on. If only it were around 10 degrees cooler, I could move back. 😥

Maybe you should try New Zealand, it’s kind of like Australia, except cooler and fewer poisonous snakes and spiders…

Yeah, but it’s full of Kiwis!

As few as possible. I try to think of myself as a photographic sniper – one shot, one kill. My usual shooting fodder – race cars, race car people, and small dogs – don’t usually allow me the luxury of “wait, let me try one more” so I make sure I get it as close to right the first time because I don’t often have the luxury of a second try.

This is why I enjoy being able to mess around with things and see how they turn out if I do it different ways (and also why I took over 600 shots at the RallyCross at the weekend! 😆 ). I love the challenge of getting it right first time, but also I enjoy the opportunity farktography gives me to experiment, and take advantage of it when I can. Like the booze theme. Trying to capture a bubble in beer? THAT took a whole crapload of shots, and I learnt from it. Like never try to take pictures of bubbles in beer. 😉

So many beautiful places. All I have are old ruins and quaint villages. Gets a bit same-o after a while. I need to live on a bigger island.

I was just about to post about that, Snug Tight. I’m thinking I might just get up later to post, to give myself the two hour buffer. Since we have gone back to winter time already, it just means I get up at the same time as normal if I do that anyway! 😀

Here’s hoping it doesn’t cause us too much bother though!

I’m glad you guys are all OK, and that your homes aren’t in imminent danger.

Let’s hope the wind dying down gives the firefighters a chance to at least control the fires to start with, so that they can eventually get them out.

Ooo, I’ll have a go with it if it’s headed this way eventually then (hint hint Uranus!)

Two of my entries were taken with my Canon Powershot A70 (3.2mp), so no more excuses! You have a great eye and your flickr page shows that you’re very artsy.

I feel a little overwhelmed by the quality of the postings nearly every week. And every week I’m amazed mine get the votes they do. Don’t give up!
