I’ll be the hater. Which of those photos was actually a wedding? I didn’t see any, just women in gowns and the occasional groom. They’re nice photos and all, but they look highly staged, considering the article is talking about how wedding photography has become formulaic and stilted.

Army nuclear, biological, and chemical (NBC) mission oriented protective posture (MOPP) training with what looks like M-17 series protective masks as well as olive drag chemical protective over-garments (CPOG).

Or it could just be stills from the filming of a cheap zombie/horror/apocalypse movie.

Of course it works on higher order primates, since he already demonstrated orangutans.
That was actually a video worth viewing. Thanks.

I may need to archive dive to my old club days of a place called “Propaganda,” “The Dungeon,” or just “the club,” and fire up the scanner. There’s definitely the opportunity to titillate the voters with some of those. This is about a metaphorical darkness, right? I can’t just post a shot of a tan line on my bum, right? (Just kidding, I don’t have tan lines on my bum.)

A geared head makes a great antenna controller. Now I just need more quick release plates for the camera gear.

Ok, now that I’ve actually looked at this thread, I’ve got some correction suggestions for Depth of Field links.
Shutter City URL doesn’t work and seems to be http://www.muroki.com/muroki/depthofieldcalc.htm instead.
An alternate method of calculation can be found at http://www.photozone.de/depth-of-field
And the difference between the two of these methods http://www.photozone.de/dof-confusion

Now before you go getting all excited for me, it’s just to an T2i. I took to comparing it to the T3i, and decided for the money, I didn’t need an articulating screen.

On the other hand, I’ll go from a max 1600 ISO to 6400 (expandable to 12800–anyone know how that works); there’s excellent reviews on battery life, and of course there’s the jump to 18 mpxl from 10.2.

I’ll need some extreme SD cards–RAW files are purportedly around 25 Mb

I’ll have it tomorrow. New, body only, $500 at Amazon (after repairing my original xTi, I’ll sell the replacement, which I don’t feel performed as well in the noise area.)

I’ve got the T2i, and I love it. I haven’t figured out how to increase the ISO yet, as I haven’t really felt the need for it. I like the 4GB SD cards since they fit on a single DVD, but you’re limited to about 200 images each there. My most recent images are 153 in 3.22 GB. K-Mart was having a sale on 4GB cards 2 weeks ago for $8 each, and I picked up 2 more of them. Of course, you can always justify this by comparing to the number of rolls of 35mm film you would need and their costs.

The T3i came out a few months after I bought the T2i, and anticipating buyer’s remorse, I looked it all over and concluded “meh”. I figure a rotating screen is just one more thing to break, and it seems like the video recording modes got upgraded as well, but I’m not a cinematographer, so more “meh”. (I’m not really a photographer either. Ba-dum-bum!)

In terms of astrography, I got some nice (i.e. acceptable to me) images of Orion with the EF-S 55-250mm lens back when I first purchased my kit.

Pope Larry The Tamron? I want one, but I really want the Tokina 12-24, especially after Soosh‘s glowing reviews (“yeah, you know, I left it in the Alaskan wilderness for two weeks during the winter and a blizzard rolled in. Went back and found it. Threw it in a bag of desiccant for a couple days and it still works good as new.”).

I picked up the Tamron 10-24mm zoom last summer. I was also looking at the Canon EF-S and Sigma, but ultimately went with the Tamron. It’s a good complement to the Canon kit EF-S 18-55mm, being 45% wider.

It’s great for interiors and urban architecture. Unfortunately I got it after my trip to Spain. I was using it last week for Apples and Oranges, and also for my photo of the stone church this week. It makes a reasonable replacement for a shift lens if you don’t mind cropping out half the image.

Didn’t someone recently mention that Fark had upped the allowable file size? Can anybody remember what the limit might be now? I will just go by the old size limit if I have to but would love to post higher quality file size.

What-the-dill-i-o? One of the pics I wanted to upload was initially 180k, and I got the Fark warning about maximum size being 256k. Argh, I increased compression to get it down to 160k. 🙁 Is it Fark lying to me or is Flickr increasing file sizes?

So many good choices for me to pick from, and lots of good shots from everybody. I think I may have a lock on “funniest” this week w/ the Precious Moments Chapel. Here’s hoping.

I don’t think you can load the Hipstamatic software on Canon or Nikon.
Canon and Nikon make you buy expensive lenses for that instead, so who’s the real sucker?

I did like the 5 easy steps to better phone self portraits. I think the black haired one was cuter in the video, but the brown haired one came out cuter in their sample photos. I see so many God-awful cell phone self-portraits it makes me want to scream. Also, if a woman only has head shots posted on a site, I’m automatically going to wonder how overweight she is. It’s better not to show any pics at all instead of only head shots, since I’ll have to rely on my imagination, where every woman is Kate Moss.

    Must have Hipstamatic. I LOL’d.

Penn State has not learned this. It was always a higlight of my evening to watch my roommate try to get his feet up to the sink.

New Mexico State doesn’t have any either, but I never saw my grad-school math partners wash their feet or pray. (Mech. engineering was only Chinese and Indians.) The only Moslem thing they ever did was ask if there was no work on Easter, er, um, I mean on “Spring Holiday,” and Ayman also asked, “why rabbits?” I never really thought about foot washing.

Of course, I have had much more interaction with Muslims since then. In fact, of all the mosques I’ve been to around the world, I’ve never visited the one in my home town. I thought about going over there, but the website said call in advance and the photos on the site showed architecture that wasn’t very inspiring.

So, instead, I did what New Mexico does best: Catholicism. Three churches along the El Camino Real, aka Highway 28.

I went with the 410 Junior for half the price (and the 055XB tripod). If you’re going to mount a motor drive on top, the larger 405 Pro is definitely a good idea. You’ll be able to see the 410’s results tomorrow, since I took it out today to snap some pics of churches. The gear action makes it easy to get verticals straight. I have no desire to get a ball head.

Are Muslim foot-washing rooms, Scientology centers and/or bible-study rooms kosher for this?

They have rooms for foot-washing where you are?!? All the places I’ve been have them outside, or have none at all.

I got a Manfrotto geared head (along w/ tripod) for X-mas, and all I can say is fabulous. No regrets at all. There’s no way I could justify a motor drive however. I used to have an astrophysicist for a neighbor, but I think he’s finished his PhD and moved on. He had a very nice 8″ ‘scope, and I’m sure a drive for it as well. Too bad.
