ParticipantBetter than “Amercia”
I don’t care who you are, that’s some funny shit right there…
There’s some really nice stuff this week, but I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with the b&w’s. They just don’t say ‘rust’ to me.
I think that’s because of the orange quality we generally associate with rust. When it’s B&W it’s just corrosion.

ParticipantSo, just so I get this right, it’s a landscape of feet and yards?
A landscape shot of landscape that would fit in the average living room or less?Yugoboy
ParticipantDamn… I’ve had these pics ready for weeks, and only AFTER posting do I see I misspelled “Country”…
I don’t need a deletion, I’m not going to spend the time to fix it, just letting you know I already know…
damn…

ParticipantSomehow the fireworks pix didn’t make it to the flash drive… I’ll post them later.
These are the last few pics from before a long week of no games. This pop fly pic came out good, mainly because I got the ball in the glove before the pitcher wrapped his glove around it. The 1st baseman and catcher were right where they needed to be, but the pitcher had it all the way.

I am sooooooo ready for the high speed contest 😉

This was a nice shot of the Braves second baseman about to throw out the batter at first on a force-out.

I’m fairly certain this was a mighty strike, but look at the forearms on this guy:

A good shot of a pitcher working his ass off is a good shot of a pitcher working his ass off…

May 21st was a night game. While I usually like action shots, this one seemed kind of lonely and definitely contemplative.

This was a between innings shot. This ball got scuffed during the pitcher’s warm up throws and was tossed away. It took the ball bay a long time to get it, and it just seemed to be asking to be shot.

Almost a grand slam. A 3-run home run that clinched the win for the Wings. The celebration at home was nice.

The efforts to throw out base runners provide easy to shot non-pitcher/batter drama, and sometimes come out good.

I’m pretty sure I’m only 2 games behind, still. After tonight’s game, it’ll be three games. I’m actually surprised I’ve kept it going this long.
One of the spectators asked for access to some of the pics a while ago. I pointed him here and to my SkyDrive. He asked one of the club guys, and they suggested a basic address to send an email to. I’ve done that. We’ll see if I get any response at all.

ParticipantTell you what; if you suggest it in the themes section, I will +1 it 🙂
I’m not sure who you’re referring to when you used the pronoun “you,” but there’s a few themes that are at 8 or 9 that could use a vote or 2 to push them over the top.

ParticipantThat is really cool. I was actually thinking about how neat it would be if there was a website that showed all the local landmarks on our drive home yesterday. Not that we had time to stop, but it was a thought.
The one thing the mobile app does that the website doesn’t is use your GPS to determine your location and show you the markers in the database. Even though you didn’t have time to stop, had you known that the birthplace of THAT guy, or the battlefield where your great grandfather fought was near the highway, you might have made time.

ParticipantCreated my Links page today: http://yugoboy99.blogspot.com/p/links-to-friends-and-more.html
Let me know if changes need to be made or if you want your comment to be changed in some way (I’ve made a 1-2 sentence complimentary comment for everyone on this page, even if I don’t know you well)
EDIT – got you, too rav

ParticipantAs long as we’re asking questions: does it have to be a publicly funded park like the examples above?
I ask because it turns out two of our larger churches downtown have nice little contemplation areas/parks on premises. Paths, flowers, fountains, the whole bit, just owned by the church not the city. Yes or no is good either way, there’s still a TON of public parks ’round here (including several Frederick Law Olmstead designs).

ParticipantI would love ot get shots like that… unfortunately for that sort of shot our neighborhood is lined with trees. Hopefully I’ll get some chances somehow.

I’ve already shot 2 things with an eye towards this theme since realizing that it wasn’t a “Photomosaic” you wanted. Looking forward to it (I can’t remember if I voted for this theme, probably not, but now I wish I were sure that I had). This should be fun!
Yugoboy
ParticipantWell then… damn.
I was going to do the collage thing for 1 picture (I thought I was thinking outside the box) and the Mosaic software for the other 2 (Red Wings and Italy)…
New ideas needed…
Yugoboy
Participantennnuipoet, did your mosaic conform to this element? – “Photo subjects must be similar in nature.”
With the software you’ve linked to, I can probably participate, but how rigid are we going to be regarding the quoted element? I’m probably going to be OK using Red Wings pics, simply due to the sheer volume I’ve got, I can probably do similarly with flowers or something… so, unlike sleeve-faced, thanx to you, I’m probably in, but the controversy will be that element of “subjects being similar in nature.” Sleeve-faced showed us that a tough theme with narrow strictures can really limit participation. I’m sure many of us have archives deep enough to do this, but what about others?
FYI – the Screenshots page at Andreamosaics shows a Mac version as well…

ParticipantWell, third option would be keep as is and let the chips fall where they may
Given that I’m not going to be participating as I have nothing and am not planning on doing anything in the next 4.75 hours you can ignore me, but my vote is for the option I’ve left in.
There’s a lesson in here somewhere, and if we figure out what it is, we won’t end up with this angst next time a theme with such specificity and difficulty is proposed.

ParticipantMay 19 was a fireworks night, so I stayed for the full game. A full game with 2 evenly matched opponents means some interesting plays. These are out of order, but here goes:
In this one, notice the position of the 1st baseman… the ball was badly thrown and he missed it… notice the runner… he’s posed very entertainingly…

I’m trying to pay more attention to the game beyond the pitcher-batter dynamic… here, the catcher’s about to catch a pop foul. Yeah he got one of our guys out, but this is a good shot (except for it being too dark SOOC):

I’ll only be posting batter/pitcher images when they are interesting for one reason or the other… here is Nishioka’s first home run of the season:

I like everything about this photo except the fact that the catcher held onto the ball and the Wings’ runner was declared out 🙁

Finally, even when things go well, they can go badly… sure we got a couple runners to third… unfortunately, they were both there at once! Oops.

Fireworks in a later post… I’m beat.
