ParticipantI really hate to bitch, esp. as I didn’t take the time to do this contest, but can we pwease has somethins added to the hoppa? I’m covered for/in rust, but thereafter, no clue.
This is why I printed out the hoppered contests… I’m just going to get whatever I have ready, ready.

ParticipantJesus that’s some crazy good shit you’ve been posting…

ParticipantMore – Mid-May. I’ve already uploaded watermarked versions on the blog, but you guys get the uncluttered ones 🙂

I like the way this one turned out:

Sometimes a picture just doesn’t come out quite the way you wanted… if it’s good enough, you just photoshop it into shape so it looks intentional:

Full explanation on the blog, but for this one and the next, I forgot and only brought the 18-55mm lens.

I really like how the action turned out in this one:

I’ve started trying to get close-ups in the on-deck circle.

Still not quite done with May 19, but I’m almost up to date 😉
As it is, I’ve been out shooting flowers and buildings for a couple hoppered themes as well, so my camera’s been BUSY…

Participant/argh! why don’t images work for me?
Same reason they didn’t for me. Fortunately, staplermofo diagnosed it: it’s the “?psid=1” SkyDrive puts on the end of links. Delete that before hitting “Submit” and all will be well.

ParticipantCan I assume that it’s ok to make a links page and include those addresses included here? It may be a little whilee before I get to it, but I figured I could/should ask.

ParticipantDude… that’s pretty sweet!
That halo disappears at the 90mpx size, so I wouldn’t stress that as much as the dust on the lens and the exposure change in the left 1/4. The gaps… oh well.
I would call this a successful “proof-of-concept” experiment.
Can’t wait to see the next one!Yugoboy
ParticipantDude… my jealousy is tempered by the fact that you did such great photography. Just awesome shots.
Keep up the good work!

ParticipantWell… either way, yesterday’s conundrum has been resolved. Now I got 2 B-sides for a later contest 😉
I might even swap out one of my “Rust” pics for the Jeep. At least I’ve got 2 weeks to think on it.

ParticipantThe funny thing is that this week, due to a variety of factors, I actually did upload a Fark-sized original at about 140-150k. That’s what was so bloody surprising. I guess when I went to the see all sizes page, it just kinda did its own thing to my small-enough pic.

ParticipantI’m not sure I understand what happened. My “Obsolete” image worked fine in the scratchpad. It posted fine last night at midnight when I posted it. All of a sudden I go to look at the contest (BTW, Good job, y’all!) it got “deleted: Image swapped out for another that’s too large.” Now, I know it wasn’t me that did any such swapping… I was in bed.
Can anyone help explain what happened so I don’t do it again?
Yugoboy
ParticipantI like the composition of the Jeep better but I think the pump is probably more “obsolete”.
The other reason I’m torn is that my Floriduh picture is a row of dune buggies, so I’d be entering 2 car pics in a non-car contest. But, as you said, the Jeep pic is quite attractive. Your logic is my logic.
Anyone else?

ParticipantI’ve got to decide between 2 Obsoletes

Advice?
I’ve got Shoe(s) and Floriduh and these 2. I didn’t really want to have 2 from the same category, so now I’m torn.
(The “s” is in parentheses because there’s only 1 shoe in the picture)Thanx!

ParticipantBrand Spanking New: http://yugoboy99.blogspot.com/ (as in less than a week old, so any attention will be good attention. As of right now, mine are the only pageviews).
Unlike Orionid, I’ve opted for watermarking, not as a way to keep people from using my shots, but hopefully to get an extra pageview or so a year.
Right now I’m uploading the Red Wings stuff, but eventually I’ll be putting Italy, nature and other stuff up there as well. (I haven’t decided whether I want a rant page or not… I don’t really want to maintain more than one blog, y’know?)
I developed a logo and stuff. I’m open to comments.

ParticipantMy photography sound a lot like yours:
I tend to think of my own style as documentary. There’s not really any single subject that I concentrate on, but all my subjects are generally in-situ. I don’t spend a lot of time setting up the perfect shot. I just take what the world around me offers. I suppose it ultimately shows I like to travel and see new things.
Although, if you want to know what my biggest folders in my hard drive are, I’m pretty sure they’re “Buildings,” “Landscapes and Waterscapes,” “Flowers and Plants,” “Cemeteries” and “Cars.”
For the majority of my life I wasn’t big on photographing people (probably kept me from becoming a wedding photographer). I’m getting over that, but I still like subjects that can’t possibly come back and tell me how much they hate that picture of themselves.

ParticipantThis is why it’s worth it to me to stay up ’til midnight on Wednesdays and didn’t bother this week since it had snuck up on me. Voting doesn’t go live until Midnight Thursday (my time) so I just stay up, post ’em like a crazy person, and then go to bed. If I miss even 1 vote, I’d be stunned. Waiting until Thursday morning, or worse, afternoon, decreases one’s vote total just from people who do not return to vote.
