Participanti use CF cards and have 6 in a small “wallet” and one in the camera. the wallet stays in the camera bag but would go in a pocket easily. it’s about 2/3 the size of a pack of cigarettes. 2 one gig cards and 4 512 plus a 512 in the camera. the camera is a konica minotla maxxun 7D set to xfine (jpeg only) and a 512MB card will hold 82 images.
have never used all the cards 🙂 i don’t delete in the field and don’t even really look at the images until i’m home and on the computer. you really can’t tell much with the review feature. and i shot a LOT. was trained by film pros that also shot a lot. the pros i worked with (provide support on location) always said film was cheap. compared to going back and setting up shots again it was. digital is even cheaper. and so are SD cards. get a couple more and don’t worry about backing up in the field.

Participantmaybe it’s me but #’s 1 & 2 could use some room in front of the car. #2 especially looks like it’s about to crash into the right margin.
on the plus side all are much sharper than the first ones. and the contrasting blurred background adds excitement.

Participantthat’s cool. yeah knock yourself out. 🙂
just for giggles try the solarization setting too. and of you do please post what the results looked like here.

Participantyour copier doesn’t have the invert option SilverStag? my scanner with do both slides and negs and if i end up using old scanned negs plan on doing basically what you want to do.
the rule for photoshop generally is whatever you do must be done over the entire image. no spot treatment. see monkeybort‘s post above.
so no it doesn’t break any rules. have fun. we’ll look for your entry(ies).

Participanttittle — odd have spell check in firefox 2.0.0.1 and it doesn’t see that as a misspelling.
my Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary says “a dot or other small mark in writing or printing, used as a diacritic, punctuation, etc.” so that may be why.
but you’re right millera9 it was a typo.
or was it 🙂
and unfortunately that link is Total Fark only.

thanks anneb i might do that. i travel past that sign regularly and it took this contest for me to actually stop and take the picture.
i do giggle every time i see it.
Curious
Participantthough I didn’t get a chance to fully post-process it.
and by that you mean resize it and save for web?
Curious
Participanti have my three selected, saved for web and uploaded. to quote our president, bring it on.
and as usual while they appeal to me there’s no guarantee the voters will like them. good thing i do this for me 🙂

Participantback in the bad old days i used to have to put the chains on to get up the hill by lake travis. that would be on FM620. saw a lot of folks slide back down that hill. i don’t know if it was the wild chill or the moisture off the lake or both but that spot would freeze when the rest of 620 was ok.
i have some really neat shot of iced up branches, leaves, etc. printed on high contrast RC paper.
while all you ice bound folks have my sympathy i’ll stick with tomorrow’s high 40’s. that’s after short sleeve shirt weather today.

Participantit took several readings of your 11:02 AM post schnee before i properly interpreted “FSM”.
and it’s ok to be snarky when someone makes assumptions about your religion.

Participantthe people shots are ok. (i’m not a people person nor people photographer) the others are darned good. in almost all cases the composition adds a lot to the shot. for example the statue of the guy in the hat is composed where he has room to look out of the frame. it’s more life like and interesting that way. that’s images 4986 and 4987. the low level and close up stuff is good too.

ParticipantI often wonder what characteristics/criteria people look for when voting.
what he said.
and not just this week.
