    Cuda,

    Since I only have the shallowest of cycle knowledge I can only comment on what I see, but it looks awesome.
    I do have experience in fabrication and know that achieving the aesthetic he went after was quite difficult, especially for what appears to be a small shop.
    I’m curious if the joinery is all his work, welded from tubing or how he otherwise crafted things like these:

    “Well, you have a sweet bike. And you’re really good at hooking up with chicks. Plus you’re like the only guy at school who has a mustache.”

    Hey Cuda,

    Got the bike and some of the necessities for riding it last week, turned out to be a better deal than I expected as the guy reduced the price while I was trying to get the time to meet him.

    Rode it for the first time with a group of friends this last Wednesday, ~20 miles. Takes a lot of getting used to, especially gear management on hills.

    I am pretty confident I bought the right size as nothing outside of normal hurt afterwards, and all the subjective advice I heard about “you need a road bike” was absolutely correct. It’s a MUCH better platform for long rides than the 7.2 FX.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Seemed like a good place to leave this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17539315

    My first thought when I went to the link was, “meh. looks noisy.” Then as I zoomed, I realized the noise was just more stars.
    /Crushing feeling of meaninglessness is a great way to start Friday morning.

    So why did they redact parts of the image??? What are they trying to keep from us?

    Awesome image.

    /Apparently it’s a conspiracy kinda morning for me.
    //I’m not usually like that.
    ///No, really.

    Kinda with Rav on this, cool but not sure of the value to effort ratio.

    Glad to hear you engaged EAP. I know previous generations viewed that sort of thing as a “weakness” but I believe that to be a biased, sheltered, small minded way of looking at any issue. “A man’s gotta know his limitations”,.. he’s one of my favorite actors for many reasons.

    PM me if you want someone to listen or someone to hear from.

    Second, this was supposed to be my life. When I went in the Air Force, I had a job as a combat photographer. It was my raison d’etre in the Air Force. In my 5th week (out of six) of Basic, the admin people came to me and said “They are realigning the tech school, and aren’t taking any more classes. You can either get out because we violated your contract or pick another job”. I was done with the hard part of Basic, had this been week two, I probably would’ve jumped at the chance to get out. So, I listed out six jobs I thought I would like, and that was the end of that.

    I’m glad you found it meaningful. It is interesting how the military consistently redefines your direction. A similar (but not photographer billet) thing happened to me, I went in thinking I was going to be a twidget (ie. Orionid) nuke and came out a chemist. I’m ok with what I got, the other way I probably would have wound up stuck in a control room all day and would rather be out and about.

    Ahh yes, the good ol’ days. When men were made of steel and bikes were made of wood. So does this make you a “crazy old timer”?

    Don’t have it yet. The guy is up by you and I am down by me (60 miles SW of Fort Worth) and I’m working nights. Upside is he still has not sold it and is willing to meet me halfway if he still has it on Monday. The more I look at it the more I think it is as you suggested, the way to go.

    What kind of “fit test” issues would you look for (having only been fit for one bike in my life leaves me with little to go on)?
