ParticipantThere is always an abundance of win in our contests but in this one even the “mediocre” (eye of the beholder yadda yadda) shots are full of win.

ParticipantAlso for once, some bees. I’ve been taking pictures for this contest since it was suggested:

ParticipantHolgas can be fun as a novelty. It’s the people who make lomography SRS BSNS that annoy me.
Also, welcome to the forum!

ParticipantHonestly I never go back to the thread after it’s closed especially with the Bibliostats refreshing so often that it’s just as accurate as the voting link. So whatever you decide to do is cool. Maybe shout out to the Bibliostats site to check the official winner and I like the idea of acknowledging the newbs/returnees and making them feel welcome.

ParticipantThank you all!

ParticipantYup we saw that too! orionid gave 3:2 odds it’s a sailor and 1:9 odds it’s someone he (tangentially) knows.

ParticipantThe Kent state planking photoshop entry by grampy was genius though.
If done well I don’t think there’s any problem with using more “serious”/”depressing”/”unsettling” iconic images as long as they meet Fark rules. There were some like Tiananmen Square and depression mother w/ children in last contest.

ParticipantI saw that, voted us up one more 😛
Maybe it’s that bird guy from a couple weeks ago.

ParticipantProgressive did send me a nice email reminder that my car is covered for hurricane damage so worst case scenario if I break my camera is just put it in the car and wreck that too.

ParticipantDepends on what actually happens. The house we’re at has a really wide southern walking porch so if it’s just lightning and rain we might be able to get some shots without risk to life and limb. If wind speeds peak above 60 mph though, I think I’d like to stay inside.
Apparently it doesn’t take much for the Rappahannock to overflow it’s banks here but the river is very, very low right now. Abundant trees and farm structures in the area though that could succumb to wind damage. And both orionid and I have 1 hr+ commutes. I’ve already wished I had my camera for all the lovely sunrise picture opportunities i’ve had; if it winds up being severe I may take it with me Monday (assuming I can actually go to work Monday).

ParticipantHair ye, hair ye was in the hopper at 9 votes. When we upped the votes to 10 it was brought back for one more vote along with the other 9 vote themes and at that point it did not get further support so it was scuppered.

ParticipantYeah I used the 12 mm extension tube on my milk drops and on the recent pictures I took at the United States National Botanical Garden in D.C. It’s a lot easier to mount that on the 18-105 than to try and use the MF 200mm without a tripod.
