Duct tape: Is there anything it cannot do?

    //I mean, besides sealing ducts…

CD; I like the first shot with (is it?) Atrus. The dog, however, is not enjoying the moment. 🙂

I got a bunch of family shots with our ‘not quite on par with state level’ fireworks; haven’t gotten them edited yet.

I’ve been smirking over this thread, thinking “Just a dead xTi and a live one”. But I just remembered the two Argus cameras. And the Kodak Flash Bantam. And the 3-d Nishika I’ve yet to bastardize.

It’s a slippery slope. I’m still near the top, but I’m going downhill and gaining speed…

Meah. After I texted you caradoc I spent 30 minutes in traffic to get 3 miles home. By then, the storm was just north of me. The setting wasn’t the greatest, and neither were the lightning shots. I got one 1/4 way decent one, which I won’t even post out of embarrassment. Fortunately, the season is only beginning–here’s hoping for better luck next time. 🙂

(OTOH, I got some very nice fireworks shots.)

If I open in a new tab it shows up. No matter. Here’s hoping for good lightning tonight! Elsewise I’ll settle for man-made fireworks.

I get a “Image hosted by tripod” gif, but I googled it. Me with a gun? I’d end up shooting my foot, most probably.

Yay! I’ll be out in the east valley at my brother’s house, but I’ll bring the camera.

Although, I’d have taken the Springfield 1911A.

    Whuzat? 😕

Shots from my ‘midnight to dawn’ shooting adventure this morning. Some may be future contest entries, some may not. Had fun.

The downtown Phoenix at midnight shots were…a little scary (I brought my stun gun; then having processed at home and realizing my lens was smudged beyond belief–went back and retook the shots, sans stun gun; I got over it–it’s not as bad as Detroit, after all…).

The photos are chronological, from about 4 am to 6am.

    ah-HA-ha.

What about things like a ‘tunnel’ made from trees over a road?

//I went picture taking today, midnight till an hour past sunrise, in case you weren’t wondering. These questions arise while I’m taking the images I would take even if there weren’t contests.
(I got some lovely ones this time around–can we have a theme for just owls?)

Ah…dang. Hope the baby feels better. Maybe next storm.

Do we specifically need to show both the entrance side and exit side, or could we have a shot say from the interior looking out?

I love the monsoon nights–it’s actually bearable, isn’t it? I’m off this very moment for some shooting down by the river in the ‘industrialized’ section of Phoenix. If you don’t hear back from me in this week’s contest, I’ve been mugged, raped, and/or killed. Central to 20th street, north side of the Salt River. Just saying. 🙂

Just popping in to ask silverstag the same question clouddancer and orionid asked. To clarify for my purposes: Do ‘steps’ need to be intended for humans, or on the human-sized scale?

Later on we visited the Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretive Center and went on a couple short walks with a view to seeing some wildlife. We didn’t see much, but when the sole squirrel we saw seemed to pose for me, I couldn’t help but shoot him:

    How’d he taste? 😛 😆

But seriously, I love the dragonfly in flight; that’s a hard shot to capture. The sense of movement in the background makes that a lovely shot, in particular.

The droplet–I’ve never seen that. I wonder if it’s related to mating somehow? Perhaps it’s just a reflection but it seems like there’s ‘something in the water’?

That 2nd sunset would have made a good entry for the upside down contest. It drives me nuts when I take a picture that would be perfect–for the contest that happened last week, whatever contest that may be.

I hope you indeed are dutiful and archive these for future contests. Just don’t do what I do and save everything, forcing you to look through 10,000 photos for the one you know you have…somewhere.

I worked thus far this weekend. Tomorrow in the early pre-dawn a.m., I’m going shooting for a retake of an image I think could<–emphasis here, I give up on predicting the voters' habits do well for this Wed’s contest (post~monsoon–here’s hoping for picturesque morning skies!) In the process of relocating the spot on google maps, I found some other interesting venues along the route that I’d like to see in person, so I’ll probably be out till 9 or 10 am. In the afternoon, it’s off to a family BBQ.

It happens I requested that night off, Plama if I get it, I’ll be down there. And if so, can I come, and may I bring my aunt who lives there? (she’d love this–we were just talking about visiting Kitt).
