😯 Please tell me you’re guessing that works and not speaking from experience… 😆

Show off your work and/or ask for critiques. Constructive criticism and input welcome.

    Heh. Well.

I’m reminded of the scene in “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog” where Moist goes with Conflict Diamond out on a double date with and Bait & Switch, thinking he’ll wind up with Bait, but….

    I’m not going there. Here. What-ev-ar. 😯

    “loopholes”.

    “smite”

    “Uranus”

    “strap”

    “bulky”

    “…”

I would probably be marked for a kill if I even tried to put this all together.

Mother Nature has not been kind to the lake this year. First, they got over 40″ of snow which collapsed a bunch of boat docks & marinas. Then in May they had a tornado that wiped out dozens of houses, docks & boats. And now the algae.

I like all of these. ennui‘s had a nice foredrop (i.e., opposite of backdrop, akin to what I went for with mine, but different/nicer). CISS‘s remind me of boats on the water (but–wait–thems not boats, and that’s not water!–izit?)

I’d gathered from the theme entry thread those would be okay, but I’m wondering about point of view. Obviously in the metro Phoenix region, water isn’t exactly abundant on any grand scale; a lot of my potentials are shots with a shoreline, but taken from across the other side (what, like 15 feet away? There’s not much in between the two ‘shores’, so to speak.) Are you wanting shots showing the shore from which we stand upon, or is the ‘far’ (such as it is) shoreline acceptable, or does it really not make a darned bit of difference? There’s also a very small waterfall I captured this ‘weekend’ (Monday) that I like, which does contain the edges of the waterline both above and below said falls that I’d like to consider for entry.

I guess what I’m asking is just having the water’s edge in the photo the general idea?

TYVM Elsinore!! I don’t think I’d ever asked for a pic delete; was unsure on the protocol. Thanks for the additional information.

I love this theme. I’m all for a redux, under whatever other definition (such as “Silent Decay 2”, as Kes mentioned.)

I kind of wondered if the opening was even CGI at all; it gets more obvious (because of content, not because of quality) once you get into it. But the opening train scene seems like it could be completely real.

It’s nice work, regardless. Now I have just one more way to piss away my life surfing the interweb.

Elsinore, can you delete 2011-07-06 10:26:35 PM please; it’s the wrong picture.

Maybe you’ve gone to bed? It’s late back east…

F’tography mods, what happens if the contest goes live before it gets deleted? Will I get stuck with it and the replacement get deleted instead? Or is my request time stamp enough to ensure the right one goes away? (I posted a request in the contest, too; in case another mod happens upon it–do they key in on the word “Mods” or something? I saw they got error‘s request that was just above mine, but mine still remains…)

The comparison, btw, is the difference between a polarizing filter correctly placed vs. one that is not. The view is a little wider, too, on the one that I want to be the entry.

My offer of a paypal donation is still valid. Doesn’t compare to the various lotteries, of course. But your work IS appreciated, and worth the few bucks I could throw your way. The time you’ve invested in this is an exemplary accomplishment, and I can’t imagine anyone here isn’t awed by your efforts nor results. It’s been one of my 6 ‘bookmark bar’ entries since its inception, and I only put bookmarks in the ‘bar’ when I consider it to be an ‘essential’ resource.

This is particularly good also. It’s a time lapse of it rolling in:

How about something that people walk through frequently, but it’s in total disrepair? Case in point, my pics from the Graffiti contest were taken on the Asbury Park Boardwalk, On each end they had these buildings where shows were held, etc. One end has been totally renovated while the other end sits open to walk through but is falling apart. Does that work?

I think that should work fine. I’d suggest trying to get images without people in them, though, in keeping with the spirit of the theme.

Grafitti hasn’t come up in this thread. I’m avoiding it, trying for as ‘abandoned’ as I can get. But there’s so damned much of it (including in the 800 year old ruins at Tonto National Monument, from the 1920’s-70’s!) that it would be too restrictive to forbid it.

    Damned taggers…

Nice shots, Rav! What are the wavy lines in the background down low? Looks like headlights on whoopdedoos…

That’s the Mill Ave. bridge, from where they shot the fireworks. Those lights drape across it all year long. Depending on your monitor you either can or can’t make out the bridge (I can, well, on the new monitor, notsomuch on the old.) And thanks!
