Professional urban art is cool, too. The only thing that I think should be avoided is obvious classical art in a museum. So, say Rodin’s thinker as part of the traveling louvre exhibit, not so much, but a concrete thinker painted in your local high school colors would be fair game. Pretty much the only sloid litmus I can think of is gallery – no, outdoors – yes, anything in between, use your best faith judgement.

Ya don’t? I thought it kind of looks like lava erupting all over a mountain, and flowing downhill. Granted, it’s a rather artsy-farsty representation. I guess I’ll stick to making a mountain out of a mole hill. 😉

Thanks, Els.; I know life intervenes and things get busy; I hated to bug ya but time is running short due to an unexpected building-wide ‘infestation’ bug spraying in my apt complex (which we don’t have here, but I understand the politics–just not the 4 day notice that by tomorrow I have to have everything off the floors, yet also out of the shelves, in my 326 sq. foot apartment, during the hours that I normally call ‘sleep’ time.) Had I known’ I wouldn’t have signed up for OT this week.

Much obliged for the precious few hours extra it gives me to try and pull it off. (not that I think I will, ATP. But I’m still going to try.)

If your idea going into this is that a mountain has to be Mt. Everest IMHO you’re setting yourself up for failure. Being from the midwest, even the “hills” around San Diego seemed like enormous mountains to me. Even a molehill can be a mountain in the right perspective…

I happen to have nearby Mountains, and even waterfalls that won’t compete with Hawaii or Peru or etc.,
but I don’t have an active volcano handy. I created this from some gauze
fabric, Christmas lights, and small pillows under a blanket. Don’t know if I’ll
use it, or recreate it to make it better (ve hav vays…or at least ideas), but
it’s an example of creating an effect to fit a theme.

How about commissioned art for a city walk space? Local artists in Mesa, Tempe, and Scottsdale have all done pieces for those Arizona cities. Some are pretty cool, and I was thinking of those.

For those not on Facebook, last week we found out orionid is no longer needed in the Navy, essentially is getting laid off in June and our wedding is Saturday so we have that, then finding a job and figuring where we want to move to on the Navy’s dime.

Damn well better not be Hawaii, or the rest of us will never win a landscape contest again. 😥
