    Any suggestions for what to take in terms of equipment and how to manage the difficult lighting?

    Some kind of clamp you can attach the flash to. If it’s a big space you may not be able to bounce the flash much, meaning it will need to be direct – and that means you want to move the flash away from the axis of the lens if at all possible.

    That’s not nearly enough dice though….

    Nikon (and Canon too I think) won’t tell you this, but it’s actually possible to get stuff repaired under warranty at quite a number of independent authorized repair centers, without going through Nikon directly. If there’s one local (I have no idea if that’s likely in HI though?) that can be significantly faster than sending it off to Nikon.

    Put it in a ziplock with some desiccant for a day or so?

    Also, I think you can swap the main/secondary control wheel functions in the menu somewhere, which should let you get some more control back?

    The Mayan temple antics didn’t help that 😀

    Also, we’re going to have to sacrifice some of the low vote-getters to propitiate Huitzilopochtli….

    You’re more than a year too late 😛

    (and you posted in the thread too!!)

    Also, it has a little brother now:

    Rumors also suggest a possible interchangeable lens version coming, but I don’t know if that’s at all definite….

    Take this post for what you will. After this, I’ll let mods and voters sort it out.

    Thing is, though: most farktography participants don’t visit these forums much if at all. So the final word on what goes or not has to be the actual theme description, not a post in this forum. And as worded that’s a lot broader than what you’re suggesting here.

    I simply cannot get my perspectives right, nothing is level, way to much distortion (everything is leaning in!)

    You just need a view camera! 😉

    I don’t know, I kind of like it. I mean not to the tune of 4.3 million, necessarily, but I don’t think it’s a terrible photo by any means.

    Yeah, C41 is pretty much C41 as long as the equipment is kept clean. Also, at least at CVS, you can ask for processing + a CD of scans but no prints, it’s a lot cheaper without them.

    So we’re all on the same page, right?

    Right. And cars are alive, right?

    They consume, they excrete, they are mobile, modern ones even have brains that think

    They still don’t reproduce though.

    wanna bet?

    Until I see little Smart cars waddling away, it didn’t happen.

    How many nested quotes can we get?

    At some point they’ll collapse in on themselves and form a black quote hole.

    I wanna see that in a twisted kinda way 😈

    A hole from which no substance can escape.

    Past the point of no return.

    Would it help if we divided by zero?

    do
    {
    quote(last_post);
    }
    while (true);

    I’m dizzy now…thanks!

    Just wait until Elsinore gets back.

    So will the forum engine start line wrapping the earlier ones at some point?

    Wheres my black quote hole?

    Improbability passing 10,000 to 1. Passing 100,000 to 1. Passing 1,000,000 to 1. Approaching infinite improbability. Standby.

    You know, it kind has that Mayan temple thing goin’ on now. Xtapolopacetl is pleased.

    U-Man‘s original post is getting narrower, but not as quickly as I might have thought. Perhaps there’s a quantum effect in force.

    Keep going, guys! I think if we compress the first quote enough, we might be able to finally discover the Higgs-Boson.

    Oh good Lord.

    /still playing along

    I must get in on this experiment

    *crunch*
    3

    Well it would seem we are definitely all on the same page now! Question answered U-Man

    Woohoo! U-Man’s text shrank.

    I wonder if the next nested quote shrinks too.

    I wonder what this stepped pyramid looks like in side-elevation…

    Are you mad? The human mind can’t cope with that kind of horror!!!

    Or you could always keep them on the card permanently and only show people the photos by physically handing them the camera (I know some folks that do that…)

    I went out in the storm for a bit, but it was nasty sticky snow – I couldn’t keep the front of the lens, my glasses and the viewfinder clear at once and still have time to shoot anything, so I was half-blind shooting a lot of these:

    It’s ok I have been told there is beer in hell.

    That’s the good news. The bad news is that it’s room-temperature Coors Light….

    I’ve used both PS and GIMP, and really the only basic thing lacking in GIMP is high bit-depth color operations.

    Two words: Adjustment Layers 😉
