ParticipantDiffraction. Just googled it. Varied subject. Would water-wave diffraction count? How about a laser through a prism. That wouldn’t give a rainbow, but the light is at least changed in direction. Or would that be refraction? Does it matter? Are we just looking for cool light-physics-pretty-geeky things or is it just Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet?

ParticipantThis past summer I went up To Mopsy’s place in the North woods. I love it there. I arrived in the evening and after seven or so hours in a car with four girls 11 and under I needed to escape. It had just rained and the sun was starting to go down. I knew, knew, knew I should take my camera in the boat with me when I went out to take a few casts. But I just wanted to go. Of course, the setting sun and the just passed rain set up for a wonderful rainbow. The farking thing was even reflected in the water.
While it is nice to have the mental picture, I’d like to have a digital copy too thankyouverymuch.

ParticipantYeah soosh, that first Holga is creep-tastic.

ParticipantJeez U-Man, I go to bed 1 vote behind you and wake up 17 votes behind you. Granted that #1 pic deserves to be ahead of mine, but maaaan! lol
Don’t blame me. I haven’t even voted yet. 🙂 By the way, I know there is a time difference between here and California, but your message looks like you got up around 1 PM. Did you? ‘Cause if you did I’d be really jealous. I loooove sleeping in.

ParticipantIf you joined the farktography group on Facebook you’d know these things (it was a billing glitch with the site’s host)
Done. Cool. Thanks.

ParticipantContinuing your naked theme, how about you in a trench coat flashing JK? That’s creepy. You could have loafers and dark socks and nothing else but the coat. Shot from behind you to see JK’s face or from behind her (with your naughty bits obscured) to see you.
/don’t feel like working. can you tell?

ParticipantWhat was up with the error 404 last night. Both Mopsy and I were unable to get here.
I had two ideas for photos with a scary mask. Did ’em last night. They’re OK. Then I’m using a creepy kid I did for the B&W contest.
corsec67, I had a creepy-not-scary idea too. It crossed my distorted line of wrongness so I didn’t even set it up. Hell, I don’t even want to describe it. Ewww.

ParticipantThanks folks. Those two pics in the top 10 did waaaay better than I expected. I threw in the Cookie Monster opera one just for the heck of it, thinking it would get a decent amount of cute votes. The drum one is OK but I think many of the top 20 are as good or better. As usual, Fark voting is odd.
upmqtguy – Welcome. It is a pretty cool adventure. This community of photographers along with the weekly themes has made me grow much, much faster as a photographer than I would have on my own.

ParticipantThanks folks. We’ll be at Navy Pier Friday night at the spook house. I’ll bring a camera and tiny tripod.
/any additional input is welcome.

ParticipantSorry for my tardiness…my daughter’s 7th birthday is today, so we were celebrating. 7 years…le sigh….
Contest linky:
http://www.fark.com/cgi/comments.pl?IDLink=4716608My wife’s 40th is today. I set up a surprise. Her folks came here to watch the girls for a few days and we are off to Chicago for a grown-up weekend. Big points. Plus…there’s the whole grown up weekend thing. Win-win for U-Man.
While in the Windy city I want to shoot some sort of night-time city photo. Like this one – http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs43/f/2009/114/5/1/Chicago_Skyline_by_msog.jpg . Any suggestions on where to go? Other than up.

ParticipantConversion of the whole image to B&W is entirely OK. Anything done selectively to the the image gets you on thin ice. Color pop is right out. Clone stamp for filter dust is OK. Clone stamp for a big forehead zit is not OK.
Right folks?

ParticipantI was talking to Mopsy yesterday and she says she got a coworker/friend to join as well. Good stuff.
I have been focused other directions than this theme. I’ve taken a bunch of pics recently, just hardly anything musical. I tried to take some of the young drummer across the street but I’m not satisfied with the result. Might enter it anyway. I took this one at my daughter’s choral thing last week. I really just took it ’cause I was so damn impressed with the hair/hat that kid has. That is an awesomely bad hairdo. Should I enter that one? 🙂

Participantmillera9, that is so cool. Never seen it before, Thanks.
Life has been in the way of my checking this thread out. Reading it confirms my suspicion that you guys are all a bunch of huge farking geeks. Wow. It feels so good to fit in. *sniff* …something in my eye…
I have absolutly ZERO musical talent. My kids make fun of the way I “sing”. I went to a liberal arts college and had to get like 8 or 10 credit hours in artsy fartsy things. Took Piano 101. Had to memorize “Greensleeves” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5ItNxpwChE because I never learned to actually READ music. I practiced and practiced on the piano in the dorm basement until some guy who was trying to study came in and told me I sucked and would I please stop. 🙂
I got nothing yet. The 12 year old across the street plays a drum kit. I might ask if I can take some pics of him.
I assume something like an album cover is NOT the direction this theme is going. Right? I mean, we want actual musical stuff. Right?

Participantorionid wrote:Actually, nevermind. I don’t think I’m going to be able to play this week. I’d love to, and have a few ideas, but my life is imploding around me and I just don’t have the time to do anything.
I hate it when life gets in the way. Remember J. Lennon – “Life is just what happens to you while you are busy making other plans.”
But I really came here to say that I like the 3D gif. If possible (within the rules, your schedule) I’d like to see that tomorrow.

Participant‘guine, you could always put that caption under the pic.
