Participantand Green Heron get my vote, Barracuda (bastid…now I wantz a green heron!).
Just got back from the park again, saw the green heron again, but no additional shots of him. you and your comment over on G+ about big glass made me wonder what I could get with the 300mm + doubler, so now I’m sorting through another 50 frames or so. Nothing really great, the herons were all deep in the bush finding shade, in fact pretty much everything was finding shade being that it was noon and 95 degrees out. A few of a couple of a chineese goose, but not much else.

ParticipantAnother frame from the longhorns set:

And a decidedly more ‘real’ living thing, a Green Heron fishing / playing hide and seek with me and my camera yesterday. One of the leading contenders for this coming week’s theme.

ParticipantHeaded out tonight to the Mustangs of Los Colinas sculpture to see if I can get a solid third for this contest. Seems I’ve taken a liking to the night photography bit lately, perhaps it’s because it’s getting to be 100+ degrees during the day?

ParticipantAck, too many choices! I had four decent shots, already more than I needed, went to the park yesterday and got a half a dozen more keepers after sorting through the new ones. Opinions?

ParticipantCongrats to RagnarD this week!
+1.
Very pleased with my 2nd place for the Lake Mineral Wells sunrise, especially considering all of the really great shots this week. Really wish I had more than that single frame of that shot. Was still using the timer to eliminate camera shake on the tripod (while I was digging out the remote trigger). The next frame the kayak was half into the shadows already.

ParticipantVery nice dragonfly. I’ve got a few dragonfly captures from this morning I need to get pulled off the camera.

ParticipantMust slowly back away from this thread before I get any ideas. What’s the forum equivalent to sticking your fingers in your ears and yelling “LAA LAA LAA LAA LAA I’m not listening!”
Seriously fantastic work, the Eagle nebula shot is my fav so far in this thread, and knowing that I really won’t be able to stay away from watching for updates, look forward to seeing what you manage to produce next.

ParticipantI like 0087, the portrait orientation will help with the whole Fark size limit thing, and the B&W look really works with the subject imho.

ParticipantYeah, next game I may try to do that, last night we were with a fairly big group so stuck to my seat for the most part. After the game I make a minor detour to the shopping center/mall next to the park where I knew they had some bronze statues for the upcoming “Carnival of the Animals” contest. I think this is my best of that set:

ParticipantAfter all of Yogoboy’s recent shots of his local minor league baseball team, knew I had to make it to a Frisco Rough Riders game this season. A few days later my cycling club posted that they were putting together a group outing to the ballpark for a game. I love it when a plan comes together. It was an evening game, 7pm first pitch, and there was a lot of building clouds in the area last night, so lighting wasn’t the best after about the 3rd inning, requiring me to max out the ISO of my XSi. Enough noise in those shots where I decided the only thing to do with them was alter them enough to look ‘artistic’ly noisy.
First shot of the night, and probably one of the best. This was taken with my 55-250 while there was still enough light to use it. Soon switched to the 300mm f4.5 Nikon lens.

Good thing about baseball is that other than the base runners, most of the action happens more or less in place in the infield. Making using a manual focus lens a little easier to deal with.

Rough Rider’s mascot, don’t ask me what it’s supposed to be. He is neither rough, nor is riding anything.

Frisco was playing the ‘Hooks’ of Corpus Christy, a team affiliated with the Houston Astros, #50 is an Astro’s player coming off an injury. Easily this most productive player at bat for either team last night.

Really wish I’d got this shot earlier in the night when there was more light. Going to either need to be much closer next time, or go to a day game.

ParticipantReally liking how this series has turned out, and still have a couple other ideas yet to shoot:

ParticipantNever got around to getting anything done for this contest. Recent computer reloads left me without anything other than Lightroom or Paint to work with, along with RL being a complete and total drain on my existence. Suspect the extra step of putting photos together is what is keeping the entry count low. Last week we had around 170 entries I think it was.
Barracuda
ParticipantI can getcha. TF’er and I’ve already got my lot for this contest locked and loaded so I know I’m going to be participating.
Barracuda
Participant+1 Hopefully making it to the Oregon coast some time in the next few months, and I’ve got plenty of lesser bodies of water meeting land within reasonable distance.
