I feel compelled to enter since it’s my theme, but I really didn’t have much time to put into this one and I think it shows.

You would have appreciated our weekend fun, which included a rousing game of “Cards Against Humanity”.

I downloaded that and have wanted to play it, but I need to find some friends who’d appreciate its brand of humor. I think my oldest two just might be twisted enough… 😉

Well after not planning on posting anything I saw everyone else’s interpretation of science in action and figured I’d archive dive.

Yeah, I’m glad I left it so open. And in case we don’t hear from y’all again before Saturday, safe travels and best wishes for a fun relaxing time!

Well didn’t get to fire up the Tesla Coil today so just had to settle for the ESD gun.

Ooh, can’t wait to see that one.

Congrats to Mopsy on the individual win and to U-Man on yet another combined win. I was just happy to be back in the game this week but I’m thrilled with my 7th so thanks to all who voted.

OK, I’ll play the part of the curmudgeon: to me, they both scream, “Look at me! I’m more important than the events occurring around me!” And I don’t really care for that kind of self-absorbed behavior. Now if you’ll excuse me, there are some dang kids on my lawn…

I’ve just been terribly “meh” recently. About everything. And the votes on my archive dives reflects that which doesn’t really help alleviating the meh.

Well, that sucks to hear. IIRC, you were going to take advantage of some counseling offered by your employer; did/does that help any? I think you & Kes have also got a trip coming up where you’re heading out to Cali to see Olav & Kat; not to presume, but some time off has gotta be a good thing, too, right?

On the bright side, your “meh” this week is currently tied with my best vote getter and I actually put some effort into selection this week, so it could be worse.. 😉

Good to hear, Yugoboy! Well, ya know, except for that 9 months of mental grief part. I can imagine this is quite a busy time for you.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen the forums this quiet for this long, especially on a contest night. Everything OK with everyone?

    Some early bees…

rav’s right – science is in the eye of the beholder, or photographer in this case. If you think it’ll fly with the voters, go for it. I only ask that if it’s not somewhat obvious that a little explanation is provided.

Have you tried using spot exposure and exposure-locking on a bright region (head/neck) instead of evaluative or center-weighted? Anything to narrow down the area you want the camera to calculate exposure on.

Also, your camera likely has a feature where it’ll flash any overexposed areas in red (maybe in playback mode only, but that’ll allow you to correct for your next shots). That might be more helpful than a histogram given the small area we’re talking about.

Good job; you’re right, they did turn out decently (given the apparent source quality). That’s gotta be much faster than scanning. That’s cool that you’ve got photos from your grandparents’ earlier lives; I’ve got a few of mine but not many. Did you do anything specific to tweak the color of the backlight on the tablet?

I’ve got bunches of old photos I need to digitize as well at some point. It’s a matter of making time to do it, but the longer I wait, the more they seem to deteriorize/fade so I keep telling myself I need to get to it.

// FYI, the link that is your setup goes to a Yahoo signin page. The link to the scanned photos works though.
