Thanks for the feedback, Choc-Ful-A and lokisbong. 🙂 Much appreciated. I think I”ll go with the blue flame (Hubby’s choice anyway of the two), the single berry, and the orange and blue food coloring for tonight (vs the green/blue one).

Now to check to see if they fixed the network problem at work so I can actually do my job. There’s been work, just haven’t been able to access it properly.

Added some to the album that I took today/yesterday. Thoughts? Will likely go with at least one of the flame ones and one of the abstract ones, maybe one of the berries, not sure.

Rav, That is essentially a huge propane torch. Husband got it recently when we had bunches of ice to help get rid of some of the really thick ice. It has other uses. It’s really pretty. The flame is blue, but the orange sparks are from rock salt that got put down in that area while the torch was going.

Opinions on any of the below, pour favor? All are Fark contest size. I don’t think I’m objective (?) enough on them, so I’d like outside opinion. I would probably only use two of these as I took some today for a more abstract feel (haven’t post-processed yet, but they are off the camera).

For those doing the 365 project, I happened across this today while looking for something. Thought it might pique some interest/intrigue if you’re struggling coming up with stuff to photograph.

Well, whatever it is that you guys have, it’s not something that I have as well. Either that, or my shots don’t resonate with the voters at all. I think this will be the last time I have my husband help me pick my shots. He really liked the candles one, and that’s doing the worst. Then again, I haven’t exactly picked too well either. Next week I get to try all over again though, and I do look forward to doing so. At least I haven’t given up, and at least my shots have votes, so someone liked them.

Definitely a congrats from me, too. I’ve always loved horses, but never got that into them (never got riding lessons or anything). I LOVE your horse pictures, and your love for them comes out in your photos. I say ditto on Rav‘s statement, but I don’t want to seem a copycat.

Hoping my pipe picture is still kosher for this contest…

    you used it, didn’t you ! 😆

I knew that would come up. 🙂 No, I didn’t. Haven’t done any of that in years, simply lost the desire to do so. It was pleasant all the while, though. The point of getting this particular one was it was a color changer. By using it, eventually the colors would change (presumably by what coats it inside), but the running theory was also that I couldn’t clean it out to start over again. Hence, I only got it to look at it, not to use it.

I did find some previous pictures and I could possibly use one of those, but I’d still like to find it to see if I can get that picture that just pops, or is really cool.

    A glass pipe shouldn’t be a problem.

Figures. I never figured it’d be a go for that so I haven’t given much thought to putting a picture of it in the contest. I do have pictures of it, but now that I want to do some over, I can’t find the sucker. Don’t remember where I put it! Every time I get it out to do something with it, I move it some place else and lose it. I probably should have looked over the weekend to avoid this. Hopefully I’ll find it tomorrow.

I’ll see what I can do with Photobucket over the next few months. I asked my husband, and he emphatically said to choose one, and mostly as a favor to him because he didn’t want me asking him how to connect the two or whatever. So, given how much time I”ve spent on Photobucket, and how many pictures I have there, I’ll essentially give it more of a go on my end to see how I can maximize it. If I find myself wanting to switch entirely to Flickr by September, I”ll let Photobucket lapse then and switch to Flickr. I did find that it can auto update to Facebook when there’s an upload, which Flickr does, so we’ll see. While I like the community at Flickr, I don’t just want to abandon ship, so to speak, and go where everyone else is simply because that’s where they are. Nor do I want to be all alone on Photobucket.

Question on the visibility though. Can anyone see the “older” pictures if one never upgrades, or do they limit it to only the latest 200 pictures for everyone and once Pro is activated they all become visible?

So I have a hosting question, and this seems like a good place to ask.

Most everyone seems to use Flickr. I chose Photobucket long ago because someone I knew had an account there and I thought it would be fun. I’ve had a Yahoo account for ages, so I thought I’d do a few things on Flickr, just connect the two, etc; so that’s how I got to doing two hosting things. Now, Flickr says that when I go over 200 pictures, either I upgrade to pro, or I only get to see the latest 200 photos. Not so cool when I was using that for my project 365. Being that Photobucket and Flickr are the same price for a year worth of unlimited, should I just suck it up and do both (Photobucket’s year ends in September), choose one? I use Photobucket to host pictures for my blog, though I don’t know how discontinuing the pro subscription will affect much as I don’t think I use all that much bandwidth. There seems to be more of a community on Flickr and it seems a little easier to use, but Photobucket doesn’t have the weird file names and it’s a little easier to use with that.

Thoughts, suggestions either way? I would appreciate some input. Thanks.

I don’t believe it does, but just checking anyway, but ceramics don’t count as glass, correct? Seems like a silly question, but just for clarification. I’m thinking that it is its own separate category, but just making sure.

Edit: And I can’t use a pictures of a glass pipe, right? It’s never been used, I just thought it was pretty, but that counts as drug paraphernalia, even though it could be for tobacco and is legal, so a no-no, right?

I read the part about “not meant to be a black and white contest”. But can I use a B&W pic if I want to?

I assumed that it as long as the original subject was captured as black, black and white would be fine, but taking something like a blue object and making it look black through a black and white conversion wouldn’t be ok.

Linguine has it right. I included the not meant to be a B&W contest specifically for that. As in I didn’t want people using black and white as a way to get more things to look black than already were. Apologies if that is confusing. ‘Twas intended to be a color contest like the rest, just with black this time. It seemed like an interesting thing to do. I was futzing over some pictures last night I think it was and trying to get my husband’s input (he sometimes has a better eye for this than I do) and when I told him it was my idea for this, he said I screwed myself or something like that. Seems that this was harder than originally thought.

Again, apologies if I make no sense. I’m keeping myself up as I have a sleep study at 6 a.m. (I work more overnights than anything so I’m going in for a “daytime” one) and they don’t want me to have naps or caffeine. Thankfully, I’m not driving me down to this. I really want to go to sleep, but I’m not allowed. We leave in about two and a half hours. Ugh.
