And, yes, the doctor is doing exactly what you think he’s doing. Curing her “hysteria.”

    so that’s her O face?

well dip me in pig poop. don’t know how i missed them.

i have lightroom but since i got mine free and wasn’t crazy about the interface have seldom used it.

i have my images backed up on two separate HDDs and soon it will be three. two externals and an internal. images are sorted by camera used then subject and sub subject. but a lot of finding stuff relies on my remembering what camera, when/where the shot was, etc. and until i get demented it works. not lighting fast but it works ok.

ennuipoet you have almost 5000 images in that photostream. and i didn’t see any sets of collections. so how do you manage to find older stuff? or do you just not bother?

i have a crown graphic http://www.flickr.com/photos/57055068@N00/4742968389/in/set-72157624254668835/ and a bunch of film holders, roll film backs etc. i haven’t used it in years and might be talked into selling the whole setup.

re tripod and remote i have both but i’ve hand held it with a lot of success. keep in mind the old photo journalists shot with this rig for years. a head/ground glass cover really helps. never used a jewelers loop and never needed it. ansel adams was probably right, the turn around between exposes is anything but quick. exposure as a function of aperture shutter speed seemed ok and the meter(s) were good too. i shot mostly tri-x professional and some kodak color slides. the slide film was slow slow slow but on a bright day produced really nice results.

rather that write a novella here if you have questions email in profile.

The cheaper Nikons come with a separate plastic cover instead.

thanks for reminding me. mine was still in the original box. now it’s in my camera bag.

of course if i did like i did today and just take the camera/lens and leave the bag home that won’t help. it didn’t help today when i ran out of battery before running out of subjects.

my old minolta XD-11 had an internal shutter you could close for that.

what they said generally. try to have a mental image of what the final print will look like. we tend to see what we want to when taking pictures. by that i mean you see some nice red berries and take a picture with them in the center. but as sleeping points out in # 11 that leaves dead space. fortunately it’s to the right and we don’t start looking in the right. anyway my point is that what you see at the moment of exposure and what your viewer see can be different if you don’t think of the final image as seen by someone else. try to look at ALL the frame for elements that work, or don’t, in your final image.

and do a bit of googling for the “rule of thirds”. you don’t have to follow it slavishly but it does make sense. i get criticized by my ex photo teaching sister for not following it but for me it’s a personal preference. like i said you don’t have to follow it but you should know about it.

last but not least — deleting. i shoot a ton of exposures and only delete those that are completely crap. the totally out of focus, the ones with my finger in front of the lens, etc. i have found uses for many of the others that weren’t a first choice originally. cropping can really be your friend here. a meh horizontal shot can be a good vertical shot when cropped. again personal preference but HDD space is cheap.

and for god’s sake and yours make backups. regularly. an external HDD, DVDs whatever but back your stuff up.

To open from Explorer, you’ll need the Codec. There was a new 32-bit version released yesterday to add support for the new cameras, but I haven’t installed it yet. http://nikonimglib.com/nefcodec/

just FYI the codex installed replacing an older version but the “windows photo gallery” from windows live essentials which you need to open the photo won’t install on XP Pro with sp3. you need vista sp2 or newer.

Because that person is still behind four other people, thus fifth overall.

I agree. If you have the 5th most votes you should be in 5th place.

    more succinct answers 🙂
