ParticipantI decided to go the safer route and use a photo of the event with green in it (it was harder than one might think to find green at the event) thus eliminating both argument and confusion. I did weigh heavily using either the guy above or the Vegan Family

ParticipantI’d say if you’re willing to risk it with the voters, I’ll allow it.
Thanks, I’ve a couple of more traditional shots that I plan on using, but opening up for the Vegans leaves me with some interesting prospects for #3.

ParticipantErr, what about “Green” as a philosophy? For example this fellow

is about as Green as one can get, but there is no green in the photograph. I’ve a whole series taken from NYC’s Veggie Pride Parade, these folks are so green they make me look like Glenn Beck.ennuipoet
ParticipantOther than the very large lenses I leave them on and reversed when not in use because they feel so flimsy in my backpack, I don’t want them to get broken clinking around in there with all the other lenses and cameras.
OK, now, there is a reason one might leave them in place like that. I know my first Sigma zoom’s hood seemed more like a Styrofoam coffee cup than a hood. I see many people whose opinion I respect have reasons to leave the hood reversed. I will strive hard not judge people because of it.
Except for the lady in my story. I’m sorry, she was just wrong. 🙂

ParticipantI know, I know, and I’ve done the same by leaving the hood on when in a rush. I accept the fact of my pretentiousness, I don’t like it, but I know it’s there. This time, though, really….all of gear and plenty of time to take it off, I was just, well jealous and petty. I’m human, I have emotions damnit!

ParticipantI sign the back of the print, and the matting if applicable (I usually mat my own prints).
The back of the print I use an archival-quality pen, and the mat, I sign in pencil. I put the year and the title on the back too.
Oh, and congrats!
Thanks, for the congrats and the info. I’ve had my writing published, I had a play I wrote performed, but somehow this seems bigger. This will be around a long time and that makes me feel like I should do it right. I would like to think that someday long after I am gone, someone will look at the pic and signature and ask themselves: “Who?” 😛

ParticipantYou know, anyone who doesn’t like it is free to make their own book! That’s what my Mom would say!

ParticipantOUR geek room smelled awesome, like man-work. 😉 But the dremeling was just angling the tips for “fork in the road,” which came out teh suxor. The forking forks were just good old-fashioned pliers and vicegrips, with a little bit of soft-annealing from a butane torch on the tight curves.
And many thanks, U-Man!
I, for one, welcome our metal bending overlord! 😀
/So. Much. Win.

ParticipantI actually found a place that could do what I wanted and do it for a very nice price. myphotopipe.com has a ton of options for standard and pano printing, it’s well reviewed, easy to use and as soon as I have my prints in hand I’ll attest to the quality. Now, the even MORE IMPORTANT question: should I sign the print or just include a business card? The printer will put my info on the back of the print, but what about the front? I don’t want to watermark a display print, but perhaps a little signature in the corner 🙂

ParticipantCongratulations!
Thanks!

ParticipantHahaha…yikes I’m scared to have you review my photography now.
I already have, you’ve vibrant warm colors, nice composition and compelling subject matter. You take real joy in the doing and it shows in the results!
I dunno, I had no real feeling one way or the other about Kit Lens until I saw her photography. I just didn’t see a lot of life in her photography, it seemed a little formulaic.
But, hey, I’m just a Vet Tech with shiny toy 🙂
ennuipoet
ParticipantUh, ok, let me see, trying to be nice…some of her compositions were interesting, and she knows how to pose her subjects.
The colors were flat, the lighting almost universally bad, the kit lens shows up in a lot of photos (Hey, I LIKE lens flare, but seriously) most of the models were simply lifeless in their representation and much of the subject matter rather cliche.
I’m not a master photographer and I’ve more to learn than I can think of, but if she is getting paid for her work, I really need to rethink my concept that the competition in NYC is to tough.

Participantaround here, too. and never take the camera off the green square setting.
I didn’t hear her very much, but she actually did seem to know what she was doing. She was marching them around and posing them like any other pro I’ve seen, she was just using some really low end gear. I know it is the photographer not the camera that makes the photo, but seriously…an EFS 18-55?

ParticipantKit LENS!
ennuipoet
ParticipantYeah, I need…. errr…. want to order a few more empty spools from fleabay so I can carry more than two respools with when we go out shooting. Especially when there’s three or four 620’s between us (frikkin kodaks and germans).
LOL! I think you spent more time with your arms in the bag than with hands on the camera! It did gather some strange looks! And one bride and groom.
