Hey, U-Man, sorry to hear about U-Man Mark.1 Glad to hear he’s doing okay now. I had a clot in my arm Feb ’09, utterly not fun.

On another note, I wanted to brag about something since I certainly can’t brag about my submissions lol. Olav’s “envy” picture…. he was setting her up, describing a situation to her where she might feel very envious, and she was sort of getting it, but wasn’t really emoting all that strongly. Then — using special mama powers — I said “Somebody just met Rosalina” (nintendo character). She gasped and made that face and started shaking with envious rage. I nailed it. It was hilarious.

As usual, I wait until I think I have all my pix before I re-read the contest rules. Whew! My pix are either dominantly green or have a green subject; I’m okay! =P

Although I’m going to tank badly this week. Unless I come up with something in the next 27 hours or so that has a lot more grab than anything I have already…. Oh well.

I usually love color contests, I don’t know why this one stumped me so.

Yeah, orionid, those sculptures are completely awesome. I’m stoked with my current place (on the paternity test picture; I’m not really surprised by the lack of enthusiasm for the centerpiece. It is merely ok.) and I’d love to hang on to it, but I absolutely don’t deserve to pass either of those.

Soooo… last week I had a minor summer cold, no biggie. Got my dot in the middle of the night Thursday (I know that’s TMI, bear with me) so I felt all washed out and blah all weekend. Then Monday rolls around and the lingering effects of my cold turn into a sinus infection which was WAY worse than the cold had been. I had a fever and all that jazz. Today I got up and my fever was gone, YAY! Not so much. My puke count is now at three.

Thus, two entries this week. I’m too tired — well, brain dead is more like it, lord knows I’ve been sleeping a lot — to even go archive diving. At least I’m amused by my second entry. 😛

I do agree with olavf that he does seem to be a bit of a one trick pony when it comes to portraits.

They say married couples really start to look alike after a while… 😉

I think a lot of those photos are completely awesome. But. That site displayed one trick. I don’t know if he is a one-trick pony, but basically he was applying one lighting principle to all subjects: stark. It is a very … speaking way of lighting a human face, slightly less so but still evocative for a scene. Still, I think that emotion can be drawn with warmth as well. I’m left feeling like I saw one side of a coin, or two dimensions of a three dimensional object. Like I said, the photos are incredible… but they have elements that could be substituted for others to make an equally valid point, if you know what i mean. I’m sorry, I have the fucking hiccups and it’s hard for me to concentrate lol.

Akimbotoo fessed up outright to being a first time farktographer, but was not, in fact the only Boobies player.

I’ve talked to your mom a few times, Kestrana… although I don’t know if the handle fits her or not, the photo submitted by ADHD Adult seems like the kind of thing she’d do.

If I think of her as thinking the way you do, photographically speaking, I wouldn’t entirely rule out zittlechick.

But I’ll place my small bet on ADHD Adult.

And if it was one of the others I mentioned, maybe I can get a sympathy internet as a condolence prize. =P

Me neither. But I’m happy with my submissions. I think this contest speaks to all of us who have been well and truly bitten by the photography bug. I took that picture of the boot this afternoon. When I got it into Gimp I decided it was perfect in every way 😉 except that I would have preferred the sky to be more interesting (it looks like I freaking photoshopped the sky gray lol)… so I had to change my submission choices.

U-Man – I can’t resist rust. I photograph it every damn time. I sort of ruled out 99% of my rust pix because of that. It’s not really a camera-made-me-do-it if it’s a consistent habit lol.

I don’t care how the voting turns out, I’d like to publicly thank Olav for helping me decide which of my “short list” was really appropriate for the contest. I had kind of thought of saving Aluminum for the as yet unscheduled natural colorpopping contest… but it works with all truthiness for this contest. 😉 The camera said “*snort* nice aluminum there, braniac. We’ve got to get a shot of this one.” So i did.

ETA: My camera can be snarky like that. And it hasn’t any manners, either. 😯

SilverStag – It’s personal dude. I’d try another approach. I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing quality at what I’m posting, and I’m posting from home. I had to post from photobucket for two weeks and sheesh talk about arbitrary file size! my pops-to-bigger weren’t all that big lol. Have a drink or six and look into new hosting options. *hugs*
