You should have posted a warning – may cause acid flashbacks 😯
I’m guessing steel mixing bowl filled with water for the reflection?

Actually it was an iridescent christmas ornament. 😉

I have a third picture, but I don’t think I’m going to use it. It totally fits its lyrics, but it’s not a very exciting picture. 😉

I like pretty much all of these. 🙂

Hey. This theme made me remember a question I have. My Canons seem to have trouble with largish, relatively uniform red-red things. They get blown out in relation to the rest of the frame.

    Example – http://photos.imageevent.com/ulle17/peopleplaces/m_7822.jpg

Check out the red dress. It featureless in this pic but not in real life. Any input? (I spent an afternoon taking pics of this dynamic lady for a mail-out thing she did while running for county board.)

This isn’t an answer, it’s half a thought… I know there is an adjustment one is supposed to make for shooting green, so possibly doing the opposite of whatever that is would help with red. Just don’t ask me what the green adjustment is, cuz I forgotted. I’d have to find my book and look it up… and you don’t want to do that to me, do you? It’s an exercise for the student. 😉

I almost feel guilty about it, even, but I cannot in good conscious vote for entries I didn’t personally find to be artistic. I think it’s likely that others, within their{edited} own definitions, also limited their votes.

Or maybe the teeming masses just haven’t started voting yet. I’m just happy I have any votes, as I kinda came in with an “I’m gonna fail” fear.

In a contest like this one, I feel I have to take the poster’s intention as legitimate and not let what *I* consider art be a factor. We all have different tastes. Just because it may not strike me as artistic doesn’t automatically disqualify it for me; the photographer might think it’s the most artistic thing he or she has ever done. So when it comes to a photograph that doesn’t strike me as arty, I decide based on technical execution and whether or not I just plain like the photograph. Which I might, even if I don’t think it’s art, although I can’t say yet. I haven’t voted yet. I’m a Saturday voter.

Elsinore – I suspect Olav is feeling much the same way. =

A little late to chime in on the sizing thing, but… I rarely re-size in DPP, other than the convert-and-save (and sometimes cropping). Then I use gimp to scale images and drop the quality down to 91% or so, which gets me a file size of anywhere from 60-150 depending on the size (dimensions) of the pictures. Personally I can’t perceive the quality loss at that level on a computer screen. The smaller numbers are for what I post inline, the larger numbers are for what I link. Yeah, the linked ones don’t have to meet the posting file size requirements, but they generally do anyway.

Definitely sounds like a flickr thing. Flickr and I never learned how to get along. I was using photobucket before I switched to just using our own server… which I realize is a luxury that isn’t available to everyone. 😉 Even photobucket is annoying. But seriously, wtf is up with adding file size to your files?! Fliiicckrrrrrr? You’ve got some ‘splaining to do!

Wow, I should pull my two other pix, since they have no votes. some people (like all of them, apparently) have no sense of humor. At least people started voting for olav’s fish-slap picture…

I love this idea! But I forget, did we ever discuss posting them all in one post or spreading them out?

Also, should that be the title of the picture and/or included with the posting (I’m thinking not well known or local band albums/songs), or is that part optional?

I have no idea what I’m going to do yet, but I suspect that I’ll have the best luck with something that resonates strongly for me, and many of my favorite songs are by bands that never “made it”. Just people I knew who recorded a demo disc or something to sell at their gigs, but nobody outside of San Francisco in the 90s would know them. And most people IN San Francisco in the 90s probably wouldn’t lol.

So from my perspective it seems like lyrics or song titles for captions would probably be fairly important… 😉
