lokisbong when you mentioned going to a cemetery for a picture I thought you were going to do a trick photography “hand of zombie popping out of the earth” shot so I decided not to shoot that one myself. Boo-urns.

Ah man! I didn’t even think about the zombies angle. It’s a shame you didn’t do it.

I’ll have to remember that for Hallowe’en or whatever we do this year.

Drew replied to my email, thanked me for the feedback and told me right now they are planning ridiculous/stupid prizes. If you like the idea about main page recognition of sorts, feel free to email him too. Or maybe we could start a petition

Well I’m of 2 minds on that. 1. landscape photography is better suited to panoramas I think than anything else and you just said this was landscape photography in the sky but 2. allowing panoramas opens the door on allowing stitching and hdr and other things. Cropped panoramas (i.e. normal photos cropped to look like a panorama) would be fine with me though.

If you want to do something like that an e-mail to Drew or Mike could get the ball rolling. They are planning a redesign anyway (I assume this is public knowledge at this point).

If Photoshoptography wanted to latch onto that I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to load up a random assortment of “week’s best” that would change when you reload the page. Maybe put the top 5 or 10 from last week’s photoshop and the winners of the photoshop contests (since there’s a lot each week).

So I was going to ask this earlier, but how did you come to join us here?

I’m nay on a weekly prize but if there were a prize for say, the first time you win a Farktography contest and you only get it once, I think that would be cool.

Alternatively, a recognition sort of prize such as IDK, your winning picture and Fark handle appearing in the sidebar of Fark for the week would be a better reward to me than a free t-shirt.

As to what Farktographer was saying about participation – it’s something I pay a lot of attention to and it fluctuates greatly. We actually have more active regulars now than when I started and the ‘liters have been bringing hardcore competitive shots so far this year. At the same time, it would be great to get more participation – and if we can ever sort out the issues with the publisher/agent on the Farktography book I’m sure that will boost participation also.

You can use the BBCode option in Flickr from the same place as the html option but with our forum you generally also want to post at 500 size or smaller because there is a nebulous pixel and KB threshold.

Are you making a collage of other photographs you’ve taken or of 3-D objects?

Yes if you use an x-ray you would have to be the person actually operating the x-ray machine

Yeah…we’re Farktography mods, not Fark.com mods…so that’s still Elsinore‘s bag. 🙂
