ParticipantThe dining room table has a project we’re both working on on it 😉
Kestrana
ParticipantI hope beyond hope this means I get my coffee table back soon.

ParticipantYeah HDR and tone mapping software would be too far for this contest as it’s currently been suggested.
Kestrana
ParticipantSince we’re allowing stitching for this contest I would say that’s fine
Kestrana
ParticipantGreat now I *gotta* come up with something for air 😛

ParticipantI’m down for allowing 4 entries for this whether or not they are posted as a set but I don’t think it should be required unless we are using the “post all 4 in one post” option. The policing (especially for people who don’t read the boobies and would not notice that people had posted one extra photo simply by scrolling) would become a nightmare and possibly make a lot of people quite angry when their 1, 2, or 3 photos get dq’d. The last thing we want is to turn people off of Farktography because we got creatively stringent with the rules.

ParticipantI think the emphasis is supposed to be on the play of light and shadow across the subject. In that photo, the subject is pretty well lit even if the background isn’t. But I’m still wrapping my mind around this one, so I could be wrong.
Yeah, for this contest I’m taking it as the absence of light that’s supposed to be the most striking feature.
Exactly! The composition should be about the shadows, not the light. If that makes any sense.
Thanks that makes more sense to me.

ParticipantYou’ll still be bound by the three voting entries but you can always post a 4th non-voting entry to complete the set.

ParticipantIt’s not too late to put it somewhere in the book if we want. But I was thinking if we could put a splash banner on the site it would be awesome for that

ParticipantThanks ZE. I didn’t know if my ‘R’ was ‘R’ enough so I decided not to use it in the contest.

ParticipantYeah I read the article but I didn’t find it definitive. Especially the portraiture, much of it didn’t look too different from average studio portraiture or low key lighting to me. Maybe what I’m thinking of as low key is pretty much the same thing.

ParticipantWe can do that if you want but I have no problem doing it by hand. After the initial set up it only takes a couple minutes to keep everything updated and I check the site between 2-11ty billion times a day. Part of the reason I thought it would be good to delete the old threads is that just because an idea was suggested previously and failed to get critical mass is no reason it shouldn’t be suggested again. Maybe the original suggestion just got missed or the group of active people is different/has different interests now.

ParticipantBan tasers?

ParticipantKes is fine, it’s what I usually go by on the intarwebz. And it was mine before Star Trek appropriated it’s use!

Participant:blush:
I can’t help it, I’m sorry! I hate pages and pages of dead threads. For forums like “This Week’s Contest” I go back to the old threads a lot and would never support deleting those. But I just didn’t see any point to saving the old rejected suggestions, especially when we were trying to encourage participation and freshness. *bites knuckle*
