I must admit I’m considering skipping out on this contest. There’s gonna be 1) the aged old hand together with the newborn one 2) The aged old couple of hands, with the caption ‘Married 92 years’ (or some such) and 3) the newborn asleep with the hand flipping the bird.

And I just can’t compete with that.

I have two ideas, both of high difficulty, shopping requirements, and no guaranteed voter appeal. I have a third option which requires my entrance into a religious venue, and I’m pretty sure cameras aren’t too welcome there.

Don’t worry about the voting. Challenge yourself to come up with something no one else will have or try something you’ve seen someone else do that you haven’t tried yet. Besides Fark voters are fickle and some weeks I’m sure I’m going to go down in flames I wound up with a top 10.

Today the site’s been a little frazzled with above average activity I think. At one point I had something like 60 tabs open at the same time adding all the info to the Themes forum threads.

Maybe we could use .5s as a save then? They don’t count towards the voting total unless the theme was going to expire or they buy extra time and bumpage for a theme?

Sure. I probably should have asked before just deleting them but since 90% of them had no activity for over 6 months I didn’t think we were going to miss them and I don’t like 14 pages of dead threads. Mea culpa.

I kept all the threads for hoppered themes (except Urban Art, that one got deleted by accident because it was hoppered almost a year ago). I could close rather than delete them but I didn’t see much use in keeping them. I went through about 60 threads earlier today looking to see what vital information would be missed if I deleted them and there was generally little more than the voting consensus or theme clarification – most of the discussion and decision making takes place in the schedule forum. But if more people would rather close than delete them that’s what we’ll do (although I dont think we can bring back the ones that got deleted already).

Spring Cleaning 2011!

– 7 vote themes were removed from the hopper. They will be re-added if they reach the new critical mass threshold.
– All 7 vote theme suggestion threads were bumped asking for more votes
– Expiration dates added to all themes. You can add your own expiration when suggesting if you wish or I’ll do it when I see the thread.
– First post of each thread updated with a status message showing either theme is hoppered or theme has an expiration date
– Themes prior to Jan 2011 removed (unless hoppered)
– Theme threads will be deleted when theme expires or is scheduled
– Removed Instant Classics hopper since classics are treated same as other themes
– Added “How to Win Friends and Influence Theme Choices” thread explaining changes

Nevada is really big sky country and there are ruins everywhere from ancient prospecting (also lots of abandoned mines which are no joke). The sky is blue blue blue nearly every day.
