Personally, I don’t think the ‘smoke’ one really fits the definition, and I’m not sure what to make of the wall one, as cool as it is.

The snow covered branches is my favorite. I like the trees, though personally I wouldn’t name it that so people’s minds make up their own ideas 😉

edited to add: Branches, crate, water, and blocks are exactly the sorts of things I had in mind when I submitted the contest.

Thanks, thats what I was guessing. Ill have to remember the wall one if we ever do a drug inspired contest. The original of that shot was just a regular picture of the wall but I wanted to try one more shot so I just opened up the shot on my computer and then moved the zoom while taking a picture of a picture.

I have the camera and tripod if we decide to. Now I just have to figure out how to put them together in the right way with gimp. Off to the HDR part of this site.

Unless someones made new plugins for gimp it can’t do tonemapping to make a true hdr image. There’s some sort-of hdr options with gimp but I’d recommend using qtpfsgui or some other program.

I’d be interested depending on what my work and/or school situation look like closer to then. But until that clears up some Im trying to avoid making any commitments that involve cross country flights. If I am able to do it though I’d vote for the beer festival or either mt rainier or olympia forest.
