Why don’t you just tape that Nikon you have to a kite or rocket. Then it will break and you can start getting Canon stuff.

Can I have all of my past votes for U-Man stricken from the FSM? 😀

With such an open ended theme description and the contest happening tomorrow, it’s probably too late to narrow it down at this point. We’ll have to consider that if we repeat the contest in the future.

This contest is next week, that said I’d still agree with keeping it open at this point.

Voting usually closes sometime on Saturday depending on Elsinore’s schedule.

Putting the camera on the long-time exposure setting should work. You’ll probably want to play around with the different lengths or time to get it to come out how you want it. Also, depending on how narrow of an aperture your camera has you may have to do the longer exposure in lower light in the evening if its still coming out to bright.

For my #3, should I go with I R Serious Dragon or with a more whimsical/funny entry.

/serious one is a better photo

Would I R Serious Dragon be a cat wearing fake dragon wings? I was considering doing that but I really didn’t feel like putting the effort into something that probably wasn’t going to look anywhere good as I was hoping it would when I got home from work today.

I haven’t had any problems, but I have the forum address saved in the cache so I just type f and click on the farktography forum and never go to the welcome page.

All the themes that are currently scheduled will show up in the “this weeks contest section” – http://farktography.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewforum&f=5
The upcoming events section on the left hand side of the page under the calendar will also show up to the next 4(I think) contests that have been scheduled. They tend to just get scheduled in clumps so there will be times when theres 6 contests scheduled and times like now when theres only 1 or 2 contests scheduled.

Probably, but something else could slip in there as well. It’ll probably be updated soon.

I’m having trouble cropping my pictures- when I click the crop button and try to select part of the image, there’s just a little grabby hand which doesn’t do anything instead of the pointer and crop symbol that usually shows up. Anyone know what might be the problem?

Is this something that is happening on all of your photos or just some of them? I’ve never used aperture but if its just on some of them and you use layers it might be that the tool won’t work when you have multiple layers.

on #4 (Farktographer’s have to “opt in” for PS’er to use their photos)
    —-
I think it’s way too complicated and bound to fail. I don’t think I would participate in either the Farktography or PS contests if the photos had to be marked “OK to use” and the PS’er had to only use the ones so designated. The potential for disputes and hurt feelings is too high for me. And again, it’s likely to be a real headache for the moderators as well. I think if people are aware that a contest is intended to be used as source images for a PS contest, they can submit entries or not. I think complicating the process is problematic.

I agree that you probably don’t want people to have to opt in for allowing their images to be used. There are a lot of people who don’t read these forums that we would be counting on reading to rules in the boobies post to know that they would have to ok the use of the images for photoshops which could cause the photoshoppers to lose a lot of possible os. If we were really worried about is we could allow people to opt out of allowing their photos to be photoshopped, but I think that could just lead to problems like Choc-Ful-A was saying and I think pretty much every farktographer can come up with some images that they’re ok with being photoshopped.

I’m tempted to go with my 3 most lens flarey shots just to beat the photoshoppers to it.

Got nuthin’ so far. I really don’t have a feel for what will ‘make it’ with this theme. Y’know?

Im guessing that most people will just be voting for pictures that they think look cool and not giving any thought to whether or not the shot would be good for someone to photoshop.

Would the Vice Vice Baby theme be a memorial to pangolyn?

No, that was going to be the dragons theme. http://farktography.net/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=1835
