ParticipantSorry guys, I hate to be the one who breaks it to you but film is dead. D-E-A-D dead. Sure there will always be film and old cameras around to play with just like there are model T’s around to drive, but do you really want to drive the model T every day when the cheapest Hyundai out there drives a 1000 times better and is far simpler to operate?
It’s no different with cameras. Why should I bust out my Holga, load film, take 12 shots, go through all the BS of developing at home when I can take a shot that is virtually identical with my iPhone? Because I love the smell of developer? Hardly…
Everything this guy did with his iPhone I could reproduce in Photoshop on pictures taken with any DSLR. Would you hate so passionately if they were taken with a 5D MKII?
I think his point was to show that he could take compelling shots in adverse conditions with an iPhone. I think he succeeded.

ParticipantOoooooooooooh! I’m gonna get it and take a bunch of pics and post them to facebook and tag ennui in each one!! 😈

ParticipantShort of an epiphany this week, I’ll have to sit this one out. No archives, no local interesting parking lots – and believe me, I tried. I thought I was onto something with the walmart and strip mall next to a giant grain silo complex. Not so much.
C’mon man! You can do it! The whole point of this theme is to make something totally boring and mundane into art. I have faith that you will come up with something!

ParticipantI have a feeling the unvote issue has a lot to with the fact that after you click the vote button, the “vote” link does not change to a color that is much different from the unclicked link. I know that I have gone back to vote later in the week and have accidentally unvoted for some entries… just a thought.

ParticipantDamn, NoBigDeal, that sucks 🙁
I dug up a few. 😀

ParticipantI’m going to miss for the first time in almost 4 years. I had a ton of ideas for this but life kind of took a dump on me this week and my desire to shoot went out the window. Maybe I’ll take a stroll through the archives and see if I can find something.

ParticipantIs it me or did the voters go MIA this week?

ParticipantYeah, not really sure what to make of the monkey…
LOL! I thought the same thing. The description doesn’t say your subject has to be human.

ParticipantIt’s always BBQ season!

ParticipantI don’t shoot 1/2 as many random crowd shots as I should. When I was shooting for Backlash a few years ago, shooting the crowd was definitely mandatory because of the freakshow that followed them around.

ParticipantBut I’ve already got one.
Probably made out of an old truck trailer right?

ParticipantSomeone actually created a fake flickr account just to bitch you out about your boobs? HAHAHA!! That’s too much!
*yes*…crazy, no?
Edited to add: I guess it just seemed pretty sad that someone is taking Farktography *that* seriously…
Jealous obviously 😉

ParticipantNoBigDeal It’s not the voting, or lack thereof that’s been getting to me, I think. More of the feeling that I’m posting into a virtual black hole…
You’ve got that too? I dunno, for the past few months I’ve kind of felt as though much of what I’ve posted for the threads was missed by the voters, as though I somehow failed to communicate with them. I don’t care about the votes, no, let me amend, I don’t care about WINNING, but the number of votes is a good way to track whether or not people are appreciating the work.
I’m kvetching, really, because trying comprehend what motivates the average Farker is an exercise in futility.
Yeah, I get that. All of that. Doesn’t help that I’m in a bit of a creative slump anyway, owing to lack of time and an overscheduled life.
Els, useless without pictures.
Well, it’s the difference between this (said to be vote whoring on the order to make someone “sick”) http://www.flickr.com/photos/lady_elsinore/6513443987/in/photostream
and this, which was actually for the vote whoring theme and more revealing: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lady_elsinore/5411539493/in/photostream
Ultimately, I don’t post a lot of boobies shots (or shots of my cats or kids, for that matter), so to be called out on something so tame that I do infrequently was…odd.

Participant10mm would be almost half the sky I bet. lol The main thing that bummed me out was I tried to get all of the constellation Orion with no trails and it’s not gonna happen with the 50mm.
As to Orionids tinkering I would do that to a simple lens from the thrift store if I could find Canon ef or efs lens’ on the cheap.10.5 is all the sky and some ground! Check upper left corner!

ParticipantThere was nothing wrong with it. I just found it to be too slow to focus compared to my other lenses. Even my Nikkor 10.5 fisheye now has the SWM focus motor. So whenever I use a lens with standard focusing I find it to be maddeningly slow.
