ParticipantI’m really just not much of a dessert person, so there’s not much in my cooking repertoire =P
I grill. My wife bakes.
(Harmless? They’re CAFFEINATED MARSHMALLOWS.)

ParticipantEvery person who ever submitted even one photo to Farktography had the opportunity to be involved in this project. It’s not like we just started this last week. We have been discussing this for 2 years now.
If someone has issues with the themes or photos they should really have gotten more involved in the choosing process.
I personally think you are doing a fantastic job handling all this!nobigdeal
ParticipantI was surprised by the amount of actual..fork pictures 😛 I figured people would be shying away from it because it seemed so obvious. Theres some good stuff tho 🙂
My actual fork picture is my lowest vote getter, go figure…

ParticipantSo is that supposed to be better than the D90 or like Canons 60D just a beefed up Rebel?
Can I tell you how much this pisses me off? I was excited about the articulating screen then reading the specs more realized they’ve pushed it into the Rebel line. NOT happy….
Articulating screens are overrated. I almost never use live view. They are good on P&S cameras though where you use the screen to frame.
I am seriously looking at selling my 50D and 40D to get a 7D. My sister has one and I am blown away by the shots she gets. The only problem is I know that it will expose my sigma 24-70 and Tamron 17-50 for the cheap lenses they are. My 50d hates those two lenses but the 40d loves them, and I know 18mp will be even worse. I really need a Canon 24-70L and a 17-55 efs.
If anyone wants to get me birthday gifts! 🙂nobigdeal
ParticipantLooks like a decent unit. I get the impression its better than a D90 but not quite a d300s.
I had a dream I was buying a Nikon the other night…nobigdeal

ParticipantYea, I’m not sure about the karate girl. I was just poking around the archives looking for something that fit.

Also, NBD: Hated to do it, but your color swap/in-camera color thingee doesn’t qualify; the rules have a bit about artistic filters/color stuff with cartoonish results.
I understood that as photoshop filters. Not stuff you do in camera. That shot was straight out of the camera except for resize.
Don’t matter, I’ll find something else.nobigdeal
ParticipantSo are we supposed to be staying away from abstract ways of taking a shot of something common like this
http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/4772333771/
and instead focusing on a weird subjectI’m thinking along the lines of abstract way of shooting common items or shooting things most people wouldn’t think to photograph.
At least that is how my entries are going to fall.nobigdeal
ParticipantI am planning on all archive shots this week. Going out and shooting specifically for this theme seems kind of like forcing the issue to me. Looking back on my 365 folder from last year I see so many “camera made me do it shots” that I am having trouble picking 3!

ParticipantNoob question. On the last page of the contest, the 30 day exposure; I can see a fence, but exactly what is being taken in that picture? It’s friggin fantastic, surreal even (it should be in U-Man’s theme next week), but I’m too lame to know what it’s a picture of (but if it’s water–it gets my vote.)
In case you have never seen it. Some of these are six months exposures or more.
