ParticipantNoBigDeal, that Topaz Adjust looks pretty cool. Is it based on HDR? Is it HDR?
It’s not HDR it works off of a single JPEG image.
Mostly manipulating contrast, saturation, and unsharp mask.
On certain images it really is cool.
I use it on band shots, it really helps with shots that are borderline no good from my P&S.

Cars work pretty good to.

Definitely one of my more favorite photoshop applications

Always happy to see new faces around here.
If anyone gives you beer that you don’t want feel free to send it over this way!nobigdeal
ParticipantSo umm, when we gonna repopulate the hoppah?

ParticipantI found that two of the shots I planned to use for this contest, I already used in other contests. Oh well…Hit the archives and hope for the best.

Participant*hangs head* it wasn’t supposed to be this hard!
And you can’t blame just me; I suggested it, but I’m not in control of the hopper lol.
About my poll question: in “a second look” the contests were named and linked.
we already agreed you have to name the contest your pic is for. *shrug* we don’t have to make a rule of providing links; there’s too many rules already. I’ma do it anyway, though. It gives one’s picture a context.
I agree, enough rules already. If people don’t name the original contest they are only hurting themselves.
It’s only common sense.

ParticipantI sense a lot of fail on my part in this one. 😛

Topaz Adjust
Free trial downloads, full function. You can do some pretty neat tricks with just the default settings.
Give it a whirl.

ParticipantLarge areas of blank space make for boring pictures. (Dark or light)
There’s exceptions to every rule 😉

ParticipantYeah, this definitely wasn’t a good week for me, but meh, it happens. My Porsches in the Garden shot might have been more impressive if I’d included a link to show where I was standing for it, or even if I’d gone with one of the frames that actually had the roof and turrets in it. But I figured I should let the pic speak for itself.
It was freaking awesome to go up there, and I’m not even a fan of heights!
My vertigo would send me reeling over the side.
My shots did ok for very old archive shots. I think the 2 NY shots were green box shots.
I also tend to do better when I shoot for the theme. Unfortunately life doesn’t always allow for that.

ParticipantThe best B&W has lots of contrast and fills the frame of the photo. Large areas of blank space make for boring pictures. (Dark or light)

ParticipantI tend to agree with linguine. Keep it black & white.

ParticipantResolution is quite capable of letting you know when you’re using shiatty lenses.
I found this when I upgraded to the 50D. Lenses that resolved great on my 40D looked like shit on the 50D. (I’m looking at you Sigma 24-70)
Once I figured this out I was much happier with the camera.

ParticipantI think that the worst Farktography-related feeling is having a contest for a theme that you suggested and then not having anything to submit for it. Worse than 2-vote entries even. Which, incidentally, may occur this week. I need inspiration. Quick!
I’m here to help.
Go for GTS, it’s perfect for this theme.
There are a ton of similar niche, quasi-porn genres too. You get the idea.(links possibly NSFW, probably not safe for your faith in humanity, and 99% Japanese free by weight.)
Umm..yea
You’re friggin strange my friend.
Gave me an idea though…
