ParticipantI don’t know then, unless we’re missing something obvious.
Another good link that explains some of the workings of the lenses if you haven’t seen it.

ParticipantProbably “Jamin”
http://lists.kjsl.com/pipermail/woodandbrass/2006-April/000650.html
http://www.cwreenactors.com/collodion/darlot.htm-edit ‘Jamin’ was the original manufacturer, from what I can tell. Darlot was the plant manager, and took over the factory when Jamin retired. For a number of years both names appeared on the lenses.

ParticipantYay Elsinore!

ParticipantHA!
Actually, I’m surprised you didn’t break out the Acey-Deucey.

(it’s a way of life 😉 )

ParticipantYeah, he’s pretty much why I pointed you over here.

ParticipantIt’s been a fairly challenging contest, but wide enough that I’ve been able to run with it. Iz happy, even if I don’t do well 🙂
Sadly, I forget the inspiration I had for a shot when suggesting the theme. I did the bar thing, too; was rather disappointed with the results (drinking and photography may not always mix well I suppose.) I have a couple days, though; we’ll see. I don’t think my shots are anything ‘award’ winning, but I’m happy with what I have so far as well. Glad you had fun!
Well, one of my shots involves drinking and photography 😉
There’s just no booze in the shot…

ParticipantI get the point, so if this revision is a problem, we can take a different angle. I spent about $60 for this weeks shots, one shot alone cost $30, and it isn’t even likely to break the top 20. I think what I wrote above covers most everything discussed so far, though.
No, that was just my bar tab, and what it took to get the bartendress to help me with the shot I wanted.
On the plus side, I got exactly the shot I wanted in two takes (discounting the couple of test frames I took to get the lighting and focus right)
On the minus side…well, it’s a game that i don’t think a lot of people are aware of.
So, it’s a cool shot, and worth getting (put it in my gallery even) but we’ll have to see.
So that, probably one archive, and one that I just *have* to take, that required me to find a “classic” version of an old game (still need to take that one, but I’ve got the stuff)
I think you’re good though. It’s been a fairly challenging contest, but wide enough that I’ve been able to run with it. Iz happy, even if I don’t do well 🙂

ParticipantOne of my shots this week cost me something like $40. I really hope it doesn’t get DQ’d. =P

ParticipantPlus if the photos don’t come out, the discs make pretty fun indoor frisbees.
Can’t really do that with a CF card.

Participant3 rounds? That’s 18 seconds. I’d give olavf more credit than that.
Someone’s never heard of Rodeo sex.

ParticipantThanks, olavf! Now I wish I had posted that water-drop photo…
I also edited the pervious post, so the link should load now.The “Picture of a picture” issue is a rather tricky issue, isn’t it. Very effective monument, though.
Nice!
And yeah, tricky. I’m pretty sure that one would have been legit in this instance, because it’s an element of the picture and not the actual picture, but still.
/though I kind wish I’d gone with it. The pillbug I used instead has something like four votes. Oh well. And, kestrana, don’t sell yourself short. I like this contest. It’s kind of a headache because people don’t read the description, or look here, but that happens in every contest.

ParticipantI miss SF :/
Cool shots 🙂

ParticipantThe last one wouldn’t load for me, but I love the water drops (to be honest, I don’t know what you used in theme, because I haven’t, and rarely, get a chance at looking at the thread in detail on contest day)
This was my B-side, other than an idea I had that I didn’t get a chance to try

Didn’t pick it because it felt a bit too much like a ‘picture of a picture’ for contest use. I may try a print next round though, ’cause I like the textures.

ParticipantOur kids are for the most part too smart for the double-entendre, sadly. Fortunately they get so wrapped up in whatever they’re doing that we can just slip away….
