I’ve had my share of woes. Big ‘fail’ thus far on the transparency projector–similar to what you’ve posted here, thus far. The search continues.

Besides that specialty item, anymore I just look for ‘estate’ and ‘photography’ and hope for the best. But it’s worth all the trouble when for $40 I got the 1879 Darlot, which not only produces some cool macro shots that have faired better than my average picture in the contests, but in and of itself can be a subject in a contest featuring items over 100 years in age. Plus there’s the magic projector itself, which makes a nice mantle piece and may one day see other uses.

The lens I converted to a tilt lens wasn’t such a great deal, but I like it, too. And one day I’ll get around to that 4-lens Nishika project–though I’m thinking on how I can go ‘digital’ with it, as I’m just not a fan of the film procedure developing process (I haven’t really liked what I get back, and not just for compositional reasons.) I’m sure I could bastid-ize (TM) a cheap digital, if I put my mind to it, when I get a round tuit.

Captured this unexpectedly today. Note the spot of sun flare; draw a line from it and through the brightest part of the arc, and that’s where the sun is located, behind the tree and out of frame. The focal point of the radius of the arc itself would be directly overhead, also just out of frame. I’d use it for ‘Weather’, but compared to more brilliant rainbows and more dramatic tornados, etc., I don’t think it would do well, and as it’s my first sighting evar of a CZA (and first pictures), I’d hate to have it fail. I like it anyway. Not a commonly photographed phenomenon (compared to rainbows, at least)

Just a thought–head to your local tourism office, pick up a brochure, and see what’s in it. Believe it or not, that’s exactly what I did–for I couldn’t really think of anything besides the Grand Canyon, and I wasn’t about to drive up there.

//I think balloons in a sewer, esp. if you can make it a street scene with a sign that reads ‘Bangor’ in it, would be a good start (a really really good start. They all float, you know.) Even better (use a hose if you must) if you can have a paper boat floating in the gutter toward the sewer. And a sure win if a kid is following the boat. 🙂

////damn. So much for my pictures. I talk too much. [zip it, people!]

Yes, there’s even racks for them on the metro, though they are often full so people just hang onto them. On the city buses, there’s racks in the front.

I’ll take the sandisk 4.0g CF card. PM me where I can send the paypal, check, whatever. That’s about all that’s in my budget after two new tires, a new car battery, and a full day driving around for upcoming contests (which I’m still downloading for my review as we speak.)

Can we consider a high pressure system (i.e., clear skies) weather?

Congrat’s Orionid–I showed your picture to a few people at work, and everyone loved it.

//no one joined fark to vote. 🙁

This was my worst week in the last 1/2 year, but it was bound to happen eventually. I’d hope for bettar next week, but someone among us will have tornados, and that tsunami in Phukit, and then there’s Caradoc and his lightning…

I feel like Kestrana looked in the winning image, walking in the cold’en snow, toward a goal I’ll probably freeze to death before seeing, for the trees within the forest go on, and on, and on… 🙄

I’d settle for 800 width, same height, and that wouldn’t take much more space, curious (esp. with ‘save for web’ images.)

Fark’s good about no popups and flashy ads.

There’s still dialup available? Who knew.

rav: As a Fark Photoshopper I know a fair bit about vote whoring. The text in a Vote Whore is not at all relevant to the whoring going on. The whoring is always in the image. Thus a nubile woman scantily attired will attract scads of votes even if, say, Bible verses are slapped on the top. Even in the Caturday threads, the text is secondary to the “Awwwwwww” factor of the cat. Be proud, whore photos for all they are worth! You don’t need text, just a firm set of boobies, small cute kitten or firemen without their shirts!

All of which I will be using in this contest!

Firm set of kitten with boobies laying on a fireman. Check. I’ll get to work on that. 😉
