I didn’t get anything specific to my camera, but I did get aZ-Pix digital microscope, which I ordered online for my nephew (and came late.) It hooks directly to the computer and can take stills or video. Only thing is, it says it’s intended for those 13 and up, and he’s only 6, so I think I’ll get him a GI Joe or Errctor set and keep the camera for myself…after all; the resolution is 640×480; perfect for Farktography!

Thought about it for a while. There’s going to be a new dynamic no matter what–if we thought the voters were unpredictable before….eash!

I agree with the separate tallies. That alone, though, would have changed the results of many past contests, and alters things going forward. We’ll just have to see how it plays out.

For my part, I’m sticking with the regular vote going for the ones most suited to the theme, and the funnies just going to the funnies. Unless funnies is the theme. In which case….oh, bother!

There’s this online contest thingy where every week is a different theme, and you can post up to three pictures. It can be kind of tricky, I’m to understand, as the people who vote are notoriously fickle and such, but I think this year I’m going to try to participate with three pictures every week.

Might be because the military uses Nikon, and always has because they’ve already got the lenses (there was an article in a recent Pop Pho regarding their use.) Just a thought. NTTAWWT.

I overslept! Crap. Oh, well, posted now. usually I can tell when I did it right, but the new changes…yeah…did I do it right? Are they vote enabled? How can I tell?

I like the orange background heron. Keep that up and you’ll be giving aspidites a run for his money. Shallow DOF with eye in perfect focus, the hallmark of a good bird photo. I changed my focusing techniques based on a bird photographer’s setup and have never looked back, although since the change have not had a lot of bird opportunities.

At G+ I have that shot (crop,really) at full res. Here, it’s 1/2 res. I think what helped me on these was that the birds were flying against the wind, so they weren’t moving very far in relation to where I stood. That made it easier to autofocus on them and keep them in the viewfinder, though I was often shooting at 300mm.

No, I haven’t; I’ve pretty much hung out in the lower (post ‘lake’) areas, which is considered a park ofr a while. It’s a little stark, but there’s lots of birds, and some of the park-i-fied areas are very pleasant.

I’m in Arizona, so I can’t sympathize with you, x^0, but I can certainly empathize; I wouldn’t mind delaying it till sometime when the weather was more amenable to outdoor in-camera photo montages involving obscure art that might already be difficult in and of itself to envision/pull off.

Kashari; I have a sunset album cover I’d like to find a matching sunset for, and I have a Jerry Falwell (of all people!) album cover with a graveyard scene that I’m planning on using. The Phyllis Dillar album only comes out if I decide to do drag.
