Thanks corsec67. It was a really fun process – I knew what I wanted the final image to look like so I had to mentally back track from that image to figure it all out. This was my most brain-stretching image to date.

Hardest part was my self-imposed difficulty of “no hands”. Getting a cork to pop in a somewhat predictable manner that would not cause an over-exposed image gave me pause.

Server needs to go back into the shop – BSoDs, noises that electronic equipment should not make, &c.

On an unrelated topic, can anyone suggest a decent, cheap server? I’m semi-handy mechanically, I could likely build my own.

Yeah, about that. I just got a phone call – back ground noise was a very loud fan sound. Physical report of “smoke” (I’m hoping dust). Sigh. Looks like I may need a new computer or two. I’ll know more once I stop “working” and get to the important stuff.

Needs to be fuller? More distended? Taut.

They were about as full as I could make them. The water tends to dampen the noise. I’m thinking either bigger balloons or partially filled with an air bubble (so the air can contribute to the pop).

Sorry U-man – the POP! of the waterballoon was more of a pop and my mic couldn’t pick it up. And my time budget didn’t allow for debugging the setup. You’ll have to wait.

F Y’All’s I : OBO’s are applied when the FSM does it’s number crunching, which is something like once an hour on Thursdays, once on Friday night, once on Sat night and then maybe once on Tuesday (something like that). So if the OBO isn’t immediately reflected, you may need to wait a day or three.

I originally started with the thought “wouldn’t it be cool if I could get a montage of every thumbnail that I have”. That is about 28,000 thumbnails and instead of doing the math, I just coded it up and let it rip. Out of memory’alarity ensued. M’eh.

I need to figure out what to do with this sort of thing, beyond my (non-votenated) entry into the next Farktography Anniversary thread. I’m thinking about doing one of those mosiac thingies – you know, a blocky picture of say Drew that upon closer investigation reveals that each block is an individual photo…. in fact, does anyone have a decent sized image of Drew? ‘Mofo, you got a Fark party image with Drew doing something?
