Participantmeowsertd – how many lenses and accessories do you have? Are you planning to get more soon? Do you need to transport a tripod too?
I have a Crumpler 4 million dollar home – it is good for small cameras like the Canon 350d, a couple of extra lenses (as long as the lenses aren’t beasts like a 70-200mm f2.8 ) and some small accessories like memory cards, batteries and cables. You have to be careful getting lenses out though as I have accidentally dropped one when removing the other lens.
I also have the Lowepro Trekker AW (I think, it is something like that!). It is a beast of a bag. I can get a large camera, a heap of lenses, two flashes, a battery pack and a lot of smaller accessories in that case and a tripod outside (several inflamed discs and a slight hunch too! :P) The version I have has the disadvantage of having to remove the tripod before getting into the backpack but they look like they have fixed that since. It is also slow to get into as you have to take it off to access it but it is more comfortable on long trips (I find the strap on the Crumpler cuts in after a while)
A friend recommends the Orion AW from Lowepro. Very comfortable and light. It can be used as a backpack or you can remove the top section and then it becomes a sling style pack.
Ok, enough from me!

ParticipantCan we please allow entries from contest we didn’t enter but would have if we weren’t a complete nuff-nuff?
I had a great entry planned for the euphanisms contest (well in my mind anyway!) and planned to get stuff for it that night after work. It dawned on me about thirty minutes later that I’m a day out and the contest starts in about an hour 🙁

ParticipantAnother question; say you have someone horseback riding with other stuff in the background. Do you want only the horse or the person to be ‘the object’ or can they be color-popped together?
There is no limit on what the objects or how many objects are coloured. It is up to you to choose what objects you think take advantage of the rest of the scene being black and white – or the inverse if you decide that route (if it is a white horse then returning colour to that may not make much of a difference for example).

Participantswampa: What say you?
I do declare that it should be fine! (yes, not exactly what the topic says but the principle is the same just reversed)
/If you have just selected the object and desaturated that, I’m deducting points!
//The power! It is overwhelming 😛swampa
Participantcan my husband do the shooping.
Get him to teach you how to do it. That way you too can become a shooping master and be charging your lazors in no time! 😛

ParticipantDoes it have to be only one color left, or can I leave two or three?
It isn’t that you are limiting an image to one/two colours, it is that you are leaving a/some select object(s) in colour and removing the colour from the rest of the scene. That means that your object(s) can have many colours and that isn’t a problem (for example, you could have a rainbow in colour with the rest of the scene desaturated).
Hope that helps.

ParticipantWill it be OK if the subject has been there for over 100 years but was actually rebuilt about 50 years ago because it was burnt down?

ParticipantU-Man – I don’t think the eHow article does it (either that or I messed up the instructions) and not sure about the associated content article (I couldn’t find what I was meant to select in step 1 and the images seem to be missing).
GregScott – You could do it by selectively desaturating the parts of the image that aren’t being kept as coloured, but that might take longer than the other ways mentioned and may give you an uneven look to the desaturated areas.

ParticipantLies!!! We know you and Zeke have added code to take over our computer. Did you think we wouldn’t notice with you claiming victory last week and Zeke winning this week?? Coincidence? I think not! We are all now part of the Zekenore bot net.

ParticipantI had this problem too*. I don’t have adblock so I assume someone has dobbed this site into whatever authority manages the attack site list.
* I have turned off the advise attack sites option just so I can browse here without having to hit ignore each time.
