There’s a lot of really dark imagery this week. It’s almost like the theme style lends itself to that. Weird.

I almost went with a mother-daughter shot but it was too bright and happy for the theme. 🙂
At first, quick look, I foresee your interrogation doing well. It’s good.

I’m with rav. I see the same thing. I don’t think the bulk of voters would try to ‘read’ anything more than your face lit from the side for dramatic FX.

Those peeing sculptures are ‘far-out, dude”. I actually like them. I’d like to try my hand at one of those sculptures some day, too.

rav – actually, there are only a few themes that the pics would fit well. I could just look at those and decrease my chance of a Repeat to almost nil.

I shot one new one for this week and plan to archive dive for the other two. However, I can’t tell if I used my other possibles in prior contests ’cause schnee spilled beer on the FSM.

I’m not complaining about schnee having a life. Really and truly. 🙂 But if we don’t have an FSM by go-time can we get some leniency for scarlet R’s?

If I had to, I could re-upload a pic to my image-host with a new name.

orionid, in my experience, there is a spectrum of opinion among farktographers regarding this topic. As I’m sure you have seen, I fall to the lenient post-processing-is-part-of-the-artistic-expression side of the spectrum. Others, like curious I believe, are toward the straight-out-of-camera-is-the-artistic-challenge side. In my opinion, neither is ‘right’ or ‘wrong’. It only becomes an ethical question if someone crosses the boundaries of fair-play that we all use to have a relatively level playing field. The rules are here –

I don’t see anything there that precludes the use of post-processing such as Topaz – unless the results are cartoonish.

That’s my 2 cents. I’m interested to know how close my opinion is to the middle.

We’re all getting to the same page. Rav’s #2 is spot-on. #1 in color is OK and when switched to b&w with more contrast definitely works. I wouldn’t vote for #3 because it doesn’t fit the spirit of the theme well enough.

Mopsy and I have both used an analog clocks for entries. Mine was in ‘Hands’ a few years back. Hers was in the recent long exposure theme.

My wife bought me a clock for my work office that has a sweeping second hand rather than the tick-tock second hand. I wonder how that would work with a scanner.
