K and CISS, thanks for the input. Mrs. U-Man helped straighten me out, too. I just like the serious portrait and want to use it. But it doesn’t work without text – and even then it doesn’t fit all that well.

I have several personal favorites that I want to use here but will end up passing in favor of pics that fit the theme better. They’ll be B’s later this evening.

I’m leaving work but want to throw this out before I get distracted at home. I’ll probably use one of these from our Sanibel spring break this year. This is my little one on the beach. The one where she is picking shells is very “shore-ie”. It’s a pretty good pic. But I like the sunset-lit portrait of her better. Should I just use that? Or is it not really in the spirit of the theme? It was taken within minutes of the other one. I’m sure I can use it some time, some where..

Yep. I agree whole-heartedly with the above sentiment. The FSM is a big reason farktography is fun for me. (It’s third behind the community and the photos).

Thanks for your time and effort.

I agree that three photos that differ greatly have the best chance at maximum total votes. Sort of like diversifying your portfolio. 🙂

I also agree that the hitting the water for the first time shot would likely get the most votes.

But I came here to say that this is one of those themes that will give me fits, fits I say, trying to pick three photos. Evidently, I do a lot of my photography from shore.

I had the abandoned person thought, too. I agree with rav‘s input.

Ennipoet, do you refrain from taking photos of homeless people out of respect?

I love this theme and wish I could have done some dedicated pics for it. Damn life got in the way though. I haven’t really done a proper search of my files and we’re going out for dinner. I’ll be posting late.

Oh yeah, rav, thanks for the compliments on the Chicago lady photo. She was not homeless. She was selling some sort of newspaper on the street. It is from “A Day in the Life” theme. While I really like the photo, I’ll admit that it probably would not have won without the story. Then again, the story is 100% true. 🙂

(I got some lovely ones this time around–can we have a theme for just owls?)

We can have whatever you want to suggest that voters will approve 😀

But besides that, welcome to the forum! I enjoyed your glass creations during the Scanner as Camera theme.

Oh yes, this. I thought your glass bead/shard scans were quite creative and well done.

    You said shart. Well, almost.
    Welcome oddmind. 🙂
I’m not SS, but I say railroad tie steps are steps, and fish steps are steps, and big or little steps are steps.

But it might be pushing it to use something from a 12 step program. Then again…

Thanks guys. I’ll take the win but don’t really agree with it. 🙂 I guess it’s just another example that fark voters sometimes like easy and cute.

    /that’s what she said?

K, first, thanks for the compliment about the unicycle pic. That was my favorite of my three.

Second, I tried several hand positions with the rocks. The pointer finger seemed best for fark. 🙂 Although I liked the arm position I got with one using all of my finger tips and almost used that one. I did think it through enough to have my back to the camera so that the viewer would see the pinkie side of my hand – like they would if I was really holding a hundred pounds of rocks. Oh yeah, and I used the tree for a flip-able background.

rav – I agree with the comments that the Airplane! pic should be doing better than it is. I’m actually way surprised about my rocks. That pic was my least favorite of the three. I figured it would get a respectable 20ish votes. Go figger.

Orionid‘s beer bottle legs and middle leg and CISS‘s bus stand out as well. They are unusual, well done and fit the theme. Outside the present top 10, Swampa‘s fountain works for me too. And take another look at Ranger Joe‘s black and white-ish canyons. Make your brain think of the light grey as the ground and the dark part is night sky. Kinda trippy.

    Fun theme.

And similar to Monty Python, it is probably more fun to quote than to actually watch.

I don’t think this is really a farktography theme idea, but this site is kinda cool –> http://dearphotograph.com/

    A hospital? What is it?

A big building with patients. But that’s not important right now.

Three new ones for this theme. I agree with rav. the big O makes me expand my horizons.

Thirded and forthed. I was at Mopsy’s last week and on Wednesday night she exclaimed about how beautiful that pic was. It is unique with the squared-off look. And the colors and clarity are just really nice.

Seconded. I shot a few shots of the mountains in Tennessee and Georgia last month but to my mind mountains should be…MOUNTAINS, Rockies, Sierra Nevada, Gregor Clegane, you know big!!

I’m an idiot. My first though that lasted about a second was, “Huh. George RRRRRRRR Martin must have named that giant guy after this mountain”.
