ParticipantI didn’t even consider my horsie a pet. He/she was at the kiddie area in a zoo.
I took the difficulty to be no pics of my pets or family. Corsec67 wrote – My thinking on that difficulty was that generally people have significant emotional attachment to their family or pets, and wanted something a tad bit more interesting. Otherwise it would probably end up being a “My cats: let me show them to you” theme, and I wanted something different from that. Mopsy took her bird pic at a store. IMO her photo is not a ‘pet snapshot’.
That being said, if it would make life easier – like, by not playing favorites – I’d be willing to pull my horse pic. I don’t really want to (and I’ll whine about it when you least expect me to 🙂 ) but I’ll 86 it. What do youse guys think?

ParticipantWell. I feel better.

ParticipantI hear you. But I did un-wonk it in Photoshop. I think the trees are taller on (camera) right and that fools the brain.

edited for right-left mix up

Participantsoosh, I like ’em both but I think you chose correctly.
I went back and forth with the red wall and this one –

And decided that this one will probably be used sometime –

ParticipantThe variety is crazy. It will be interesting to see what catches people.

ParticipantYeeeeah…. I’m a bit weird with the camera… but I guess that’s why I do farktography.
HA! Does absolutely nothing to say ‘Death Star’ to me. Even if I squint. 🙂

ParticipantSelecting photos for this one has been an odd experience.

ParticipantOh and U-man: Didn’t you use that candle pic in another contest already?
Yeah, probably. I have used most of those in contests. I was just throwing out examples.

ParticipantIf it’s any consolation, I think all of mine are this week :/
I ain’t used to a 160th place either. 😕 What the hell – it’s all goooood. 🙂
Back next week. Maybe I’ll use a freakin’ sunset.

ParticipantI’m home now. Quick story. We are having a lovely freezing rain here in Central Illinois. (I would really like to call in ‘sick’ tomorrow, but that ain’t going to happen). Anyway, while driving home in the rain, I came up over a hill and there was a cop with his blue lights on about 1/4 mile away. I can’t explain the physics, but that blue light was beautifully reflected by the wet road all the way back to me. It was raining pretty hard (at 32 F) but I said, “what-the-hell” and pulled into a parking lot across the street. I got out my camera and tripod and threw an old shirt over the whole thing. I slip-slided my way across the frozen parking lot and three lanes of road.
The blue lights were really, super cool.
Just as I pulled the first tripod leg out, the cop turned off his lights and drove away. I smiled a wet crooked smile and got back in my car. 🙂

ParticipantHoly shit………………………
Indeed.

ParticipantOh geez…there it was.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You were just trying to rattle my cage because I made a link after saying it was a bad idea. 🙂
I was stamping out pestilence and reducing an intussusception with air. Fun for me, not so much for the kid. 😯

ParticipantCan do. Please delete and I’ll re-post. No hard feelings.

ParticipantElsinore (and whoever), I just read these comments and I saw your “Good call”. Is the way I offered the HDR version OK? I mean, I could totally get rid of that link to this thread if anybody thinks it is sneaky or something.
I just think it is really cool. And the comparison between HDR and regular is pretty neat.
Let me know and I’ll repost if needed.

ParticipantI had a hard time choosing this week. At work right now, but if I get a break I might post some B-sides.
Here’s my last one in HDR. (1700 x something px)
