Well, I certainly hope others do not feel that my voting or suggesting has more or less value or weight than theirs. I’m not going to treat my own stuff any different than anyone else’s. I’m sure you wouldn’t either, so it’s probably just a comfort level thing.

Thanx for the offer of assistance. That was my only caveat when I said “Yes.” Not you, necessarily, but assurance of some help.

    Looking forward to it.

I’m not planning on making any changes, just trying to keep things running as smoothly as Kestrana has done for so long.

‘Bout the only change is that I’ll keep submitting themes and voting on them (I didn’t see Kestrana do that very often…)

I’ll try to find the original theme suggestion, but I can’t remember if colored filters on the lens were acceptable or not?

Bummer…Your input is always enjoyed and appreciated. And you’ve always kept this forum up quite well.

As said before: do return at your earliest convenience!

Dude… I was wearing skinny jeans long before it was cool…

Hell, I had students (proponents of the so-baggy-they’re-falling-down school of fashion) ask me why I wore such skinny pants…

(I wanted to say it was so I wouldn’t look like a gangsta douchebag, but stuck with “they’re comfortable to me.”)

On the plus side, I’m good for this week. One of my long-time favorite personal themes is entropy, and I’ve been shooting decay (generally of buildings) for years… Which is not to say I’ve got three busted buildings on deck, but it wasn’t too hard to get this one ready…

Thank you Farktographer for this theme… it may be blocking others, but I’m happy.

I don’t think that they allowed cameras inside.

Like that stops anyone! Especially in Italy!

/All you can hear in the Sistine Chapel is “No cameras!” “click, click, click” “No cameras!” “click, click, click” repeat (or see the flashes from the real idiots)

Yeah. When we were there a couple years ago we had the same experience. I realized early on that I’d do better buying the damned book, because the photos I would be taking would be poorly lit and likely incomplete… not to mention Post-Dan Brown-crowded as an 8 seater VW Bug. Beautiful place, but the WORST as far as surviving. Entirely too many people in too small a place. And the tour guides came right out and said that it wasn’t nearly as bad before the DaVinci Code.

FYI: Zeke can’t get the scheduling module up and going for me yet, so I am going to have to manually enter more themes (which will require a lot of steps for each individual one). This week has been pretty much hellish for me, so I apologize. Since the consensus was that people were fine with the Seasons Greetings theme, we will go with that for the theme following the end of the world theme. I’ll post a list of upcoming themes then schedule them as I can over tonight and tomorrow…

No need to apologize. Thank you, however!

Seriously… dealing with the vandals at the gate and setting up an entirely new forum is hard enough. This method will work just fine, and we’ll just muddle through. Thank you, again. I’m not going to speak for everyone, but I certainly appreciate all the hard work.

I love the new digs, I adore that avatars are working now, and I know everybody’s working hard, and I even get that I can play in this sandbox for free…

…so it’s just curiosity and not complaining or nagging that makes me ask if we can get some new themes scheduled?

    Flossy!

Too bad you decided to go with a cliche.
Can anyone answer me why some photographers love to take pictures of their camera obscuring their face in a mirror?

Some of us (me included) prefer to be behind the lens, not in front of it. The camera in front of my face self portrait really is the way we see ourselves, and it’s a way we prefer to the real thing.
(Has never actually done it, but totally understands the idea. Of course, I only have one self-portrait, and that was an accident with my camera-phone.)

So… even though I wound up not needing to worry about it, my query in the Forum during the interruption would be a “No.”

(The query was whether the statuary had to be free-standing or could I use a frieze or relief sculpture. Good thing my choices ended up being free-standing.)

Dammit…now I need to figure out an avatar. Do you realize the analysis paralysis that goes along with choosing such a representative image for my interwebz persona????

I hear ya… that was a whole lotta old pix to go through…

Only AFTER this one was almost totally done, I realized I was previewing them at about 50% size, so some potential pix got chucked… maybe next time I care.

New signature came to me a couple weeks ago… too lazy to change it ’til now.

I think I skipped Season’s Greetings least year due to a lack of shots, so I’d kinda like to do it this year. As for Farkstronomy, I’m pretty done for the year. Got mine this summer when I had time and was somewhere with dark skies, so I’ll just be going with those. I think you can guess which way I lean.

I’m pretty sure I’m going to end up getting creamed either way (especially in Farkstronomy), but I’m here mostly for the practice (kinda happy with my sunset stitchery this week, though…)

You’ll see it in half an hour, but one of mine is 4 separate sunsets from the same campsite over 2 years. We’ll see how it does. I had put this one together: http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8199/8184304616_4575f86465_h.jpg but I wasn’t happy with it. If I’d had the idea a while ago, I might have done a day/night thing (I though about it as I was shooting yesterday, but just didn’t have time today).
