Participantcan we just do an ipod on something?
I’m not sure exactly what you mean, but my gut reaction is no … however I might change my mind, if you don’t mind telling me your idea. You can private message me if you don’t want to share it publicly. Like I said, I’m a bit worried about participation on this one. I don’t want to make it unfair to those who may have already shot some stuff, but I hate to exclude anyone at this point.

ParticipantAy caramba, I just realized that it is not likely that people could print 12 inch square pictures at home–hello, max width for almost everyone is 11″ … facepalm.
So, yes that is fine by me, U-man and fluffybunny. I know this is going to be a tricky contest for people to enter. I myself may only be able to do one or two depending on what happens the next couple days. I fear this may be a really low-participation contest 🙁
On the plus side, any half-decent entry should have a good chance of finishing in the top ten, just sayin …

ParticipantThe shadows look like a ponytailed gal…uh…servicing someone who stands mouth agape.
/my Rorschach tests are always….interesting.
I see it too!
Your Rorshach test couldn’t have been as awkward as mine: the doc said, “Next session we’ll try some Rorschach tests”. So to prepare, I threw on my trenchcoat, mask and fedora–hit the streets until I came upon a group of thugs engaged in a crime, and then killed them all in a gritty battle where I nearly lost my life.
Man, was my face red the next session when she whipped out those inkblot cards …

ParticipantWhat the … ? I thought my “comin down the mountain” shot would do better with voters than the snake–and when I first saw sleeping’s Jenga tower, I figured it would easily beat all of my entries. Fark voting: unpredictable as ever … but man its good to see the ol vote button back.
Thank you to all who voted. Looking back on my contest entries, I can see an improvement in my work over time. The lion’s share of the credit for that has to go to Farktography. Rubbing shoulders with the talented farktographers in all these contests has resulted in me learning a lot from all of you. Thanks for that; I’ve still got a lot more to learn!
Special thanks to ravnostic for generously sponsoring me, but more importantly for his words of encouragement and general positivity. You rock, buddy.

ParticipantOh hai. Been away for awhile. My dad has been dealing with a major medical issue, and I had to go stay with him for a bit–and frankly, I haven’t been doing much photography at all lately.
I will try and participate more often though, especially with this theme coming up.
Just a quick recap for those who don’t get what this theme is about … some examples of “sleeveface” in this group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/sleeveface/
That is the basic premise; take a record and incorporate it in your photo. It does not have to be a “face”, you can use the cover no matter what it depicts. You may also use miniatures/props to stage a scene with the cover as a “background”, as long as the ENTIRE cover is included ( so no using just a small section of a cover ). Lastly, to encourage participation from those who may not have access to the cover they want, I agreed that Farktographers may use photos of cover images that they have printed themselves (from jpegs off the internet or whatever). However, if you do print your own “sleeve”, I ask that you print the photo the same size as either a record (31.5cm square) or a CD cover (12cm square), no custom-sizing the images to fit your idea.

ParticipantCongrats to Ennuipoet for his “Funniest” category win this week, and thank you to everyone who voted for my marbled Easter eggs–I never expected that one to win, so it was a nice surprise 🙂
I’m not sure how I am supposed to feel about winning Funniest…yes, I intended it be funny, but somehow I still feel dirty 😆
I’m right there with you … actually, I just had an 💡
Instead of ditching the “funny” vote button, how about we get rid of the “best” button instead?/and then change the name back to the “vote” button. April fool!

ParticipantU-man congrats to your daughter for hauling in that monster. Fishing is great for parent-child bonding; I fondly recall many fishing outings with my stepdad. Not so much for the fishing aspect (for me anyway–I can’t eat fish), just spending time together and appreciating nature.
I got one sorta b-side:

Chicken Pot Pie by Exponential Photography, on FlickrI like the photo, but didn’t feel right entering it since the pie is pre-made and cooked in the microwave (there’s some microwave-reflective material in the box that keeps the crust from getting soggy).
I had planned on BBQing a nice ribsteak for this theme, but since it has been freezing cold and/or raining here for the last week, I had to try something else. That sucker is going on the grill tonight though, I don’t care if I have to haul the BBQ into the garage for shelter from the weather!

ParticipantGot my three, but I have to work tonight. Can any TFers OBO for me?

ParticipantNothing wrong with a sammich, loki. As long as the photo is interesting, I’d bet nobody will care about the culinary skills. Not positive what I’m doing for this theme yet … found this while looking for inspiration: THE CAKE IS A LIE. A TINY, LITTLE, ITTY-BITTY LIE.

ParticipantJust checking–the legos have to be assembled by the photographer, correct? In other words no legoland or similar?

ParticipantThis whole voting controversy reminds me of when the NHL decided to use “shootouts” to settle games that were tied. It completely changed the way points were awarded in the standings. I hated it then, and I still hate it now. I used to watch a ton of regular-season hockey, but now I only get excited when the playoffs finally happen–where there are no shootouts.
The whole dual-vote thing just screams “UNFAIR” to me, and I could see myself losing interest in Farktography because of it. That would really be a shame, because I love all the other stuff about Farktography: the competion and camaraderie among participants, the challenge of coming up with entries each week, the incredible database of knowledge and wisdom here at the forum … I could go on but this is probably already TL;DR for most.
If you haven’t already written a Farkback about this, I urge you to please do so. Let em have it with both barrels.
Oh yeah, here’s my one and only b-side for this week: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7154/6852130063_8bdb0a33db_b.jpg

ParticipantI was really fortunate to get my Dollar store’s last 3 inch AR-15.
/Not a sentence I could have ever predicted writing.
How did you do the streams of juice coming out of the ventilated orange? That really blew me away (pun intended).

ParticipantZE, I thought the same thing about drawing faces on. Mine are bland and boring, but they were what I had for ideas so I went with it.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, CD. Your ideas were good, and your pics are not boring. They certainly fit right in with the rest of the entries. Will the voters love them? I honestly have no idea, but they may surprise you–I know they surprise me all the time 😕
The way I look at it, its not about whether I succeed or fail. Everbody makes mistakes, everybody fails. Everybody poops too, but that’s not important right now. What is important, is how one reacts to those failures. Instead of saying “I did not succeed”, I try to think more optimistically: “I did not succeed, this time … but I will do better next time because of what I learned.”
