What I like: this one just screams RAIN to me (so does Stephen Colbert, but I digress). This photo showed the rain most clearly, with the streamers of droplets falling from the eavestrough and the weird flared round droplets scattered throughout. In the top left corner, the drops make strange shadows against the gray sky. Following the rule of thirds, I lined up the car’s tail-lights in the bottom left “third-corner”. I was quite pleased with how much detail could be seen in the photo overall, as it was really dark when I took it.
ETA: note to self, photographers do not take pictures, they make them.

What I like: It kind of looks like a face in profile, with the grass serving as “hair” and the “open mouth” in the lower left quadrant. I also like the variety of textures – the rippling water, the grainy stone, the patch of grass.

ParticipantI spoke too soon; I AM going to do worse this week than last week lol.
Ugh, you and me both. I certainly wasn’t expecting to be in the top ten or anything, but having one vote out of the 900 cast at this point is a bit of a downer. Did I post some drunken rant insulting every Farker and the horse that they rode in on? If so, I apologize to you and your steed.
I’ll post my entries in the gallery – if anyone has a comment, good or bad, please let me know.Zero_Exponent
ParticipantI love when hard work actually pays off. That shot turned out great, ravnostic!
Threadjack time.
Everybody, look at the kitties! You got Caturday in my Farktography!

ParticipantFinally got my puter back after my hard drive died, just in time to enter this weeks contest. I was jonesing for my Farktography fix for a few weeks there.
I also send best wishes to Clouddancer and her, um, spawn 😀

ParticipantDoes the photo have to be about me, or can it be someone else?

ParticipantU-Man has won nearly 25% of the contests he’s entered
Whoa.
Nicely done, sir.@lokisbong – I don’t need anybody’s help to look bad, that’s the one thing I’m good at 🙄

ParticipantU-man, the dollhouse photo is one of my faves this week. Question about the Captain Morgan bottle: is that one of those airplane-sized mini-bottles? It looks too thin to be one of those, but surely you didn’t print out a tiny label and glue it onto a tiny bottle … or did you?

ParticipantJK, I just looked at it again, trying to figure out the two things. One might be making things perfectly centered. What’s the other?
btw – I like it just the way it is.
Also, I’m rarely perfectly satisfied with my pics.Word.
I never have taken a picture I’ve intended. They’re always better or worse. – Diane Arbus
It was good enough to snag my vote, Kat! Congrats to you and Olav!

ParticipantThat was a friend of mine, under the star they light up every year on Flagstaff near Boulder, Colorado.
I was hiking up there to take a picture of Boulder for the stitching contest, and invited him along. He stopped to take a break, and I took that picture.
Cool, thanks!

Participantcorsec67 – what’s the story behind your shot of the person sitting under a string of lights, looking over the city?

ParticipantGo and sin no more.
Well that’s a tall order, but I’ll try to be good. If it’s not too much trouble, could you restore the macaque pic 2010-04-01 12:13:13 PM?

Participant😳 Using brain before posting FAIL. I have a high tolerance for “gross” stuff. I understand how that image would upset some folks, especially the younger ones. Yikes, instead of badass, I went dumbass. Sorry about that.

ParticipantWhy did you turn the camera the other way? Won’t it take pictures of the sky when you do that? I skimmed your photostream to see if I could find any aerial shots, without success. If you have any, I’d love to see them! My stepdad, who bought the Snapshot for me, wanted me to develop the film after a couple launches, but I’m waiting to get a few more. Therefore, I have no idea what the “actual photos” might look like.
While I was looking, your “Drag Race” shot with the two simultaneous lift-offs made me do a double-take … and then I saw the comment. Nice work on the PS – the Iranian DOD could use you on their team 😉Zero_Exponent
ParticipantI’m jealous of those guys too. They are senior members of the local rocket club, while I am the most junior member. My rocket is puny by comparison (penis joke goes here).

But it takes pictures, so I’ve got that goin for me, which is nice.
We launch at a military landing field way out of town. They let us use it whenever they’re not scheduled to use it.
Your Phoenix looks pretty sweet, can’t wait to see what you’re going to have for the contest!/cool story bro: the “actual photo” on the box is obviously NOT an actual photo – it’s a drawing or a painting
