ParticipantHmm… My shell is probably out based on the “in recorded history” bit. You can go ahead and nuke it and I’ll enter another.

ParticipantI agree that B&W and Infrastructure are good candidates for switching out. Also, no opposition to the change.

ParticipantReminder to self & others: DUST your object before spending 2 hrs working up some back spasms for a bunch of CRAPPY pics. 🙄
This. And be sure to get the cat hair off your black fabric backdrop BEFORE shooting 50 pictures that all contain cat hair.

ParticipantHmmmm….that sounds pretty reasonable. While there’s been a few finds in arctic tundras like mammoths and the Iceman, I really don’t think we’d have to concern ourselves about any farktographers having access to and going with those. 😉
And really, about the fossil thing–this is macro–…what’s someone going to post, the 1/2-inch top of a velociraptor’s talon? I expect everyone will be much more creative and look forward to lots of non-plant, non-animal entries. 🙂
Ahem. I have had access to mammoth bones and tusks but not since I had a DSLR (dammit). I also have access to fossils of very small plants and animals. But to avoid any sort of confusion or controversy, I’ll stick to things that were never alive to begin with.

ParticipantWhat about fake representations of living things. I was thinking about my daughter’s extensive collection of plastic bugs. I have a ton of other stuff so I’m not attached to this in any way.

Participant/Trying to make this as complicated as possible.
//It’s working.HAH! Then I say we just post: “Bokeh: It’s Blurry Muthafarka!” 😛
I have read this several times, and I can’t read it in anything but Samuel L. Jackson’s voice.

ParticipantMy focus will be two-fold. 1) Local scenes (desert shots, etc.) to appeal to the out-of-towners, as though I think it’s ‘boring’ because I see it every day, I’ve been told most beginning photographers do best with their local surroundings and 2) The stuff that’s done best in the contests–which, in many cases, is the same thing–my 1st place from “Weather”, the 4th place Superstition panorama from “Volcanos, etc”, my 3rd place shot from “Stars” (photoshopping that damned plane out, though), the 4th place in “15 minutes”.
You might want to have some of your “artsy” stuff like your entries from Artsy Fartsy and maybe Defunct and Urban Art. Seems like your audience might be more artsy oriented. Or is that just a stereotype? 😉

ParticipantHere are the b’s:
Not specifically listed as a b, but DSC_0514_e is a great shot.
Thank you. I am taking a Maternity, Newborn & Family photo class. This family was one of our model families and they were simply lovely despite the fact that she was pregnant and it was about 90 degrees with 100% humidity on that day.

ParticipantThere was much wailing, rending of garments and gnashing of teeth in selecting three for this week. I use my husband as a judge for my entries. This week he picked three different pictures than I picked. Probably a problem of too many choices. So I sort of split the difference – one he liked, one I liked and one in the middle. Will the voters like? who the hell knows!

ParticipantI’m assuming that the portals can be occupied by animals / humans or unoccupied. Correct me if I’m wrong.

ParticipantIt appears I’m headed for “Gearfaggotry”. I’m not sure what that means but it sounds like fun.

ParticipantThe temp inside the condo was about 72 and the outside temp was about 88. I’m sure the humidity was around 90%. The same thing happened that morning but it cleared up in 10 minutes or so. I will try the plastic bag trick and see what happens.

ParticipantPersonally, I’m hoping the Steelers Nation (TM) shows up to vote for my shots.
Well you’ve got Hines in it, so I’ll vote for it. He played for Georgia when I was in college.
I didn’t think I was going to have anything to enter and I didn’t make an effort. Then I remembered that I had pics from my daughter’s first college football game. Now I have to take her to a Georgia game lest she grow up thinking the only game worth watching is orange.

ParticipantI loved the flower too zincprincess and will vote again if you have a b-side for Reflections 4
As luck would have it, I do have a b-side or two. These were the last 3 or 4 pics snapped on my outing – literally as we were walking to the car. I would have missed them if my daughter had not wanted to stop and mess around with the water garden.
